Abstract:
A massage chair is adapted to give a massage to a user using a massaging element attached to a massaging unit. The massage chair comprises a body-shape-information acquisition section for acquiring body-shape information of the user based on loads imposed on the massaging element from respective regions of the user, a shoulder-position detection section for detecting a shoulder position of the user based on the body-shape information, and a shoulder-position identification section. The shoulder-position identification section is operable to thrust the massaging element in a direction for a target protrusion distance at the detected shoulder position while measuring a load imposed on the massaging element. Then, the shoulder-position identification section is operable, based on the measured load, to determine whether the detected shoulder position is a true shoulder position. Further, when the detected shoulder position is determined to be mismatched with the true shoulder position, the shoulder-position identification section is operable to vertically move the massaging unit while re-measuring a load imposed on the massaging element, so as to identify the true shoulder position based on the re-measured load.
Abstract:
This disclosure concerns a communication system adapted to communicate between a handheld remote control and a first adjustable bed controller of a first adjustable bed facility, and a second communication system adapted to communicate between the first adjustable bed controller of the first adjustable bed facility and a second adjustable bed controller of a second adjustable bed facility.
Abstract:
An adjustable bed frame assembly includes a center frame comprising two substantially parallel side frame members connected by two substantially parallel connector frame members. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes a base frame that includes a plurality of legs for mounting on a floor is rigidly affixed to the center frame. The adjustable bed frame assembly further includes a head frame that comprises two substantially parallel side frame members connected by at least one connector frame member. The adjustable bed frame assembly also includes an actuator for raising and lowering the head frame.
Abstract:
The present invention is a chair or similar body-supporting apparatus for sitting on, reclining on or lying upon. The chair or similar apparatus is capable of transmitting sound and vibrations generated by a sound source and/or a vibration source to a user's body. The sound and vibrations are transmitted through speakers, transducers, or a combination thereof which are connected to the chair or similar apparatus. The present invention is also a method of providing vibrational energy to a user, including regulating sound and vibrations transmitted through speakers, transducers, or a combination thereof which are connected to a chair or similar body-supporting apparatus.
Abstract:
Apparatuses for passive muscle loosening and rehabilitation are described. The apparatuses are assigned for patients who suffer from limited range of motion, stiffness, pain, inflammation, and dysfunction caused by muscles that have become tight, hard, stiff, and contracted due to over use, excessive exercise, repetitive motions, and a life time of usage, as well as other users who desire to keep their muscles loose. The operation principle of the apparatus is based on peg pressing during which pegs extend out of corresponding openings in the apparatus housing and put pressure on a desired part of human body, thereby providing muscle loosening in this part of human body. Different embodiments provide different ways of driving the pegs to extend out of the apparatus housing.
Abstract:
An adjustable bed is associated with a second system and both the bed and the second system are controlled by a common control system. In one embodiment the control system is integrated, in another it is distributed, in yet another it is a programmable logic controller. The common control system accesses preferences that are associated with the adjustable bed and the second system from a plurality of memory locations that are associated with the control system.
Abstract:
Aspects of this invention relate to an adjustable bed that may include one or more articulating portions, and may include one or more components, including an air inflatable mattress associated with the adjustable bed frame, a programmable logic controller, a remote memory storage facility, a remote storage location of user preferences, a cell phone remote control, a modular control device, an air purification facility, a power outlet controller, a Bluetooth remote control, an ultra wide band remote control, a wireless USB remote control, and the like.

Abstract:
A single-motor massager has a housing, a carriage and a lead threaded rod mounted in the housing, a guiding assembly, two transmission assemblies and a driving assembly mounted in the carriage, and two massage assemblies respectively driven by the transmission assemblies. The lead threaded rod has a right-handed thread and a left-handed thread so the carriage moves back and forth along the lead threaded rod and the massage assemblies can massage a large area of an operator's back. One of the transmission assembly has a one-way bearing so the carriage is able to stop at any position of the lead threaded rod and the massage assemblies are able to focus on a massage function at a specific position.
Abstract:
A pressure-sensing massage machine that resolves the problems of difficult assembly and adjustment and the occurrence of operational errors common to a sensing mechanism that uses many components and devices. The massage machine of the present invention is able to monitor the pressure applied to the massage recipient by a motor-driven movably extending massaging member. A flexible member is provided in the transmission located between the massage member and the motor that drives the massage member, and a pressure sensing mechanism monitors the pressure applied to the massage recipient through the flexible displacement of the flexible member.
