Abstract:
A therapeutic pad for heating or cooling has a liquid absorbent to prevent liquid leakage in the event the sealed envelope of the pad is ruptured. The method of forming the pad includes vacuuming the thermoplastic envelope prior to sealing. The pad can be used alone or with a comforter to provide warmth or to remove heat from the body of the user.

A microwavable pad for heating food has a liquid absorbent to prevent liquid leakage in the event that the sealed thermoplastic envelope of the pad is ruptured. The method of forming the pad includes evacuating air from the thermoplastic envelope prior to sealing. The pad can be used alone or with a food cover to provide warmth and impart heat to food when the pad is placed in a container with the food.
Abstract:
A method of stimulation of a body surface with application of a fluid matter pressure over a part of the body surface, a mechanical pressure on local points of the body surface, and a temperature change of the part of the body surface, the method comprises the steps of applying a negative fluid matter pressure over the whole part of the body surface; increasing the mechanical pressure on the local points distributed over the whole part of the body surface simultaneously with the applying the negative fluid matter pressure; cooling the part of the body surface simultaneously with the applying the negative fluid matter pressure and increasing the mechanical pressure on the local points; maintaining said negative fluid matter pressure, said increased mechanical pressure on the local points and said cooling over a preset period of time; then raising the pressure of the fluid matter over the whole part of the body surface; reducing the mechanical pressure on the local points of the part of the body surface simultaneously with said raising the pressure of the fluid matter; warming the part of the body surface simultaneously with said raising the pressure of the fluid matter and reducing the mechanical pressure; and maintaining said raised pressure of the fluid matter, said reduced mechanical pressure, and said cooling over a preset period of time.
Abstract:
The present invention comprises an assembly including a hollow polyolefin sphere (1) containing a eutectic cooling mixture which is maintained at a temperature of about -20.degree. C. The filled sphere functions to accumulate negative kilocalories and is manipulated by means of an isothermal plastic handle or sleeve in order to apply the sphere to the epidermis. The application of the cold sphere to the epidermis produces vasoconstrictive and vasodilative effects which are beneficial to the maintenance of the epidermal tissues of the skin being massaged. The cryogenic massage can be completed with the application of nutritive substances for the epidermis. The invention can also be used to relieve local aches.
Abstract:
A system for providing heating air bubbles to a heated tub or spa positioned within a heated water circuit having heater and pump means. Included is an ambient air input conduit including a blower. Also included is a heat exchanger positioned within a fluid integral closet, the heat exchanger having a central fluid transfer coil and heat sink in thermal communication. The heat sink projects outwardly within the interior of the air closet, the air closet having as its input an output of said ambient air input conduit, the fluid transfer coil having as its input and output a by-pass of the hot water circuit. Further included in the system is an internal air conduit having as its input the output of said air closet and, as its output, the heated spa or tub. As such, the passage of heated water through the fluid transfer coil of heat exchanger will heat the heat sink means of exchanger to, in turn, communicate heat to the ambient air furnished to the air closet which, in turn, through the internal air conduit provides a heated air bubble input to the heated spa or tub.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the treatment of circulatory ailments comprises two enclaves in the form of cylinders each having a vibrating cushion and carried by pairs of arms secured to an oscillatory table. Means are provided for oscillating the oscillatory table in synchronism with the cycles of compression and depression created within the cylinders. The cylinders have a gas inlet and a quartz lamp for destroying microbes carried along with the air brought in the cylinders for disinfecting the wounds of the human body members introduced in the cylinders.
