Abstract: In general, the disclosure describes techniques for measuring edge-based quality of experience (QoE) metrics. For instance, a network device may construct a topological representation of a network, including indications of nodes and links connecting the nodes within the network. For each of the links, the network device may select a node device of the two node devices connected by the respective link to measure one or more QoE metrics for the respective link, with the non-selected node device not measuring the QoE metrics. In response to selecting the selected node device, the network device may receive a set of one or more QoE metrics for the respective link for data flows flowing from the selected node device to the non-selected node device. The network device may store the QoE metrics and determine counter QoE metrics for data flows flowing from the non-selected node device to the selected node device.

Abstract: In general, a device comprising a processor and a memory may be configured to perform various aspects of the techniques described in this disclosure. The processor may conduct, based on configuration parameters, each of a plurality of simulation iterations within the test environment to collect a corresponding plurality of simulation datasets representative of operating states of the network device. The processor may perform a regression analysis with respect to each of the plurality of configuration parameters and each of the plurality of simulation datasets to generate a light weight model representative of the network device that predicts an operating state of the network device. The processor may output the light weight model for use in a computing resource restricted network device to enable prediction of the operating state of the computing resource restricted network device when configured with the configuration parameters. The memory may store the light weight model.

Abstract: A device receives border gateway protocol (BGP) data associated with links provided in a segment routing network. The segment routing network includes a first autonomous system (AS) with first network devices interconnected by a first portion of the links, a second AS with second network devices interconnected by a second portion of the links, and an inter-AS link provided between one of the first network devices and one of the second network devices. The device filters prefixes of the BGP data to identify BGP data associated with the inter-AS link, where the BGP data associated with the inter-AS link includes data identifying state information associated with the inter-AS link. The device determines an operational state of the inter-AS link based on the BGP data associated with the inter-AS link, and performs one or more actions based on the operational state of the inter-AS link.

Abstract: Techniques are described for capturing dropped packets and creating modified dropped packets with drop information associated with the dropped packets to provide greater details of the dropped packets for further analysis and/or serviceability. For example, a computing device comprises an internal communication channel, a process executing in user space, and a virtual router. The virtual router comprises, for example, processing circuitry and a drop interface to the internal communication channel, wherein the virtual router is configured to: receive a packet; in response to determining the packet is to be dropped, creating a modified dropped packet to include drop information associated with the packet; and provide the modified dropped packet to the drop interface to communicate the modified dropped packet via the internal communication channel to the process.

Abstract: A device may utilize a point-to-point protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) and a point-to-point protocol (PPP) to register the device with a core network, and may establish a first packet data unit (PDU) session with the core network based on the PPPoE and the PPP. The device may configure the first PDU session, based on the PPPoE and the PPP, to provide a first service, and may generate first keep alive messages to maintain the first PDU session. The device may establish a second PDU session with the core network based on the PPPoE and the PPP, and may configure the second PDU session based on the PPPoE and the PPP, where the second PDU session is configured to provide a second service that is different than the first service. The device may generate second keep alive messages to maintain the second PDU session.
