Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for displaying augmented reality image content perceived as being overlaid on background image content viewed through a light-transmissive viewing surface. Image processing circuitry may receive input augmented reality image data corresponding with a pixel position on the display panel, determine a perceived background brightness metric indicative of background brightness level at the pixel position based at least in part on captured background image data and an ambient lighting metric, determine a target tone mapping based at least in part on the perceived background brightness metric, and determine display augmented reality image data to be used by a display panel to display the augmented reality image content least in part by applying the target tone mapping to the input augmented reality image data.

The color filter layer overhangs the organic light-emitting diode layer and comprises a first color filter cell of a first color component sub-pixel that at least partially overlaps an organic light-emitting diode of a second color component sub-pixel that is a different color compared to the first color component sub-pixel.

Abstract: An electronic device may display image content via an electronic display by controlling light emission from display pixels of the electronic display. A processor of the electronic device may receive image data destined for a defective display pixel (e.g., dim pixel, dead pixel). The processor may convert a gray level of the image data into a luminance domain to generate a target luminance that would have been emitted by the defective display pixel had the display pixel not been defective. After selecting a compensation mask, the processor may distribute the target luminance of the defective display pixels to nearby non-defective pixels of the electronic display to conceal the presence of the defective display pixel.

Abstract: A current-voltage (IV) relationship of a pixel having a diode is initially determined. A first voltage is determined that does not cause the diode to emit light, and a first current across the diode is sensed by applying the first voltage. A predetermined current is determined based on the first voltage and the IV relationship. A ratio is determined based on the first current, a target current, and the predetermined current. A ratio voltage is determined by applying the ratio to a predetermined target voltage. If the first current is less than the predetermined current, then the ratio voltage is applied to supply a target current to the diode. If the first current is greater than the predetermined current, then a second voltage is determined by averaging the first test voltage and the ratio voltage, and the second voltage is applied to supply the target current to the diode.

Abstract: Systems and methods are presently disclosed that compensate for temperature-based parasitic capacitance variation of a pixel of a display by causing a driver transistor of the pixel to enter an ohmic or linear region. A lookup table is generated based on temperatures at the pixel, diode voltages, and target diode currents or luminances at a diode of the pixel. A correction voltage is determined based on a target diode current or luminance, a temperature at the pixel, and the lookup table. A data voltage is applied corresponding to the target diode current or luminance and the correction voltage to the driver transistor.

In the embodiment, the processing circuitry is configured to receive an indication of a motion associated with the gaze from the eye tracker. In the embodiment, the processing circuitry is configured to expand one or more foveated areas of the display adjacent a previous position of the gaze of the user.

Abstract: A system may include an electronic display panel having multiple pixels for depicting image data and processing circuitry that may receive a first error value representative of a first difference between a first electrical signal measured at a first pixel of the multiple pixels and an expected electrical signal for the first pixel. The first electrical signal may be based on a test signal transmitted to the first pixel and the expected electrical signal may correspond to an expected response of the first pixel based on the test signal. The processing circuitry may filter the first error value to generate a first compensated error value and may filter the first error value based on the first compensated error value to generate a second compensated error value, where the second compensated error value may filter one or more effects of spatial crosstalk between one or more pixels near the first pixel.

Abstract: Certain embodiments are directed to techniques (e.g., a method, an apparatus, and non-transitory computer readable medium storing code or instructions executable by one or more processors) for mitigating the flicker on the displays at low driving frequencies due to drops of the voltage holding ratio of the materials for the display. The techniques to compensate for flicker in a liquid crystal display can include generating a dynamic waveform for the backlight of the display. The dynamic waveform can be synchronized with the driving rate of the liquid crystal display such that the luminosity of the backlight increases during periods when the voltage-holding ratio drops in the materials of the display. In this way, a liquid crystal material can be utilized in a display to generate reduced power consumption with liquid crystal rate minimizing the flicker in response to the drops of the voltage-holding ratio.

Abstract: An electronic device may include an electronic display having multiple pixels to display an image based on processed image data. Each of the pixels may include multiple sub-pixels. The electronic device may also include image processing circuitry to receive input image data, in a first color space, having luminance values for each of the sub-pixels. The circuitry may also map the input image data from the first color space to a second color space and apply a multi-dimensional lookup table, based on the input image data in the second color space, to generate compensated image data. The lookup table may receive the luminance values for each of the sub-pixels and output corrected luminance values compensated for an expected amount of current leakage between the sub-pixels. The circuitry may also inversely map the compensated image data from the second color space to the first color space to generate the processed image data.
