Abstract:
In a system having an DSP, an ASIC and a memory, in which the ASIC generates a number of different competing interrupts for the DSP to service, the ASIC has an interrupt request control module which automatically provides the DSP with a vector pointing to the memory location of the interrupt service routine for the currently pending interrupt request having the highest priority of all pending requests. The DSP reads this vector and uses it to access the interrupt service routine in the memory. Reading of this vector causes the interrupt request to be de-asserted, which causes the next highest priority pending interrupt request to become the highest priority pending interrupt request. As a result, a new vector is presented for the next read by the DSP.
Abstract:
A control mechanism for use with a door closer, comprises a shaft (10), angularly movable between a normal position and a second position, the shaft (10) having a first portion (21a) and a second portion (21b), a brush spring (35) attached to the shaft first portion (21a) to return the shaft to its normal position, and a damping mechanism (36, 38) attached to the shaft second portion (21b) to resist shaft movement to its normal position. The damping mechanism includes a coiled strap-like member (36) keyed to the shaft and contained in a damping medium.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for determining whether a test protein is capable of interacting with a retinoid X receptor protein. The method involves: (a) providing a host cell which contains (i) a reporter gene operably linked to a protein binding site; (ii) a first fusion gene which expresses a first fusion protein, the first fusion protein including a retinoid X receptor protein covalently bonded to a binding moiety which is capable of specifically binding to the protein binding site; and (iii) a second fusion gene which expresses a second fusion protein, the second fusion protein including the test protein covalently bonded to a gene activating moiety; and (b) determining whether the test protein increases expression of the reporter gene as an indication of its ability to interact with the retinoid X receptor protein. Also disclosed is purified DNA encoding retinoid X receptor-interacting proteins and the polypeptides expressed from such DNA.
Abstract:
Glasses are described having a frame which accepts a lens. No screws or other fasteners are required. The lens fits within a first and second groove in the frame. A unitary lens design is preferred having a first and second lens portions. The lens can be tinted or clear, can contain corrective or noncorrective optics.
Abstract:
The invention provides an aerosol device for the dispensing of a pressurized liquid as an aerosol without the use of a predosed propellant, comprising a liquid storage container, a valve assembly with spray button, a fluid feed for supplying the liquid from the container to the valve, and a pump assembly capable of introducing atmospheric air into the container. The pump assembly has a pressure chamber defined by a wall and having generally open and closed ends, structure for attaching the pump assembly to the container, a piston and one or more one way valves, with the valves located at the generally closed end of the pressure chamber and comprising one or more holes releaseably sealed on the outside of the chamber by one or more elastically deformable members. The central axis of the valve of the aerosol device is not coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the pump assembly.
