Abstract:
The present invention relates to OLEDs utilizing direct injection to the triplet state. The present invention also relates to OLEDs utilizing resonant injection and/or stepped energy levels.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for managing a transaction for a sale of goods between a customer and a merchant. A communication relating to the transaction is received by a provider that is affiliated with several offices, the communication including at least an indication of the cost for the goods. The cost is collected from the customer in accordance with the communication. The cost is paid to the merchant after the merchant delivers the goods.
Abstract:
One method involves payment of money to a recipient traveling to one or more foreign countries by entering into a remote computer money transfer information from a sender. The money transfer information comprises recipient identification information, at least one country where the money is to be received, and a payment amount in an originating currency. The money transfer information is transmitted to a host computer system. When ready to receive payment in the designated country, recipient identification information along with a request to withdraw a portion of a possible payment amount is entered into a payout computer. The recipient identification information and the request to withdraw is transmitted to a host computer system, and the requested withdrawal is provided to the recipient in the local currency.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus is provided for cutting an elastomeric laminate that may include a layer of reinforcement cords, into a desired length without cutting through the cords. The method includes the step of cutting through the gum portion of the elastomeric composite material at a desired skive angle, and then opening up the skived cut. Next, the cord reinforcement layer is cut without severing the reinforcement cords. An elastomeric composite strip cut to the desired length is produced and has cut ends. One of the cut ends has the gum portion cut at a desired skive angle adjacent an overhang portion of the reinforcement layer. The opposite end of the elastomeric composite segment also has a skived portion to mate with the skived portion of the first cut end, and a gap in the cord ply to mate with the cord overhang of the first end, resulting in a splice. An improved anvil having independently controlled vacuum zones and adjustable width vacuum zones is also provided, as well as improved cutting mechanisms.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to organic light emitting devices (OLEDs), and more specifically to phosphorescent organic materials used in such devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to emissive phosphorescent material which comprise at least one tridentate ligand bound to a metal center, wherein at least one of the bonds to the tridentate ligand is a carbon-metal bond.
Abstract:
A series of organometallic complexes and the singlet oxygen sensitization properties of these complexes are provided. Complexes with acetylacetonate ligands give singlet oxygen quantum yields near unity, whether exciting the ligand-based state or the lowest energy excited state (MLCT+3LC). The singlet oxygen quenching rates for these β-diketonate complexes are small, roughly three orders of magnitude slower than the corresponding phosphorescence quenching rate. Similar complexes were prepared with glycine or pyridine tethered to the Ir(III) center (i.e. (bsn)2Ir(gly) and (bt)2Ir(py)Cl, where gly=glycine, and py=pyridine). The glycine and pyridine derivatives give high singlet oxygen yields.
Abstract:
A method for increasing transfer quality between a content requestor and a content source on a content distribution system. The method involves determining transfer quality between the requestor and various content sources. The determination is made from the requestor's perspective. After determining transfer qualities for the various content sources, the requester provides the transfer qualities to a selector on the content distribution system. The selector uses the determined transfer qualities select a content source to supply the requestor.
Abstract:
According to the invention, a system for downloading a plurality of content objects from the Internet to a computer of a user is disclosed. The system includes first and second web pages, a database and a media server. The first web page allows selection of the number of content objects. The second web page includes a link to an application that includes embedded information that correlates the number of content objects to the application. The database stores the number of content objects. The media server composes an application that includes the embedded information. The number of content objects are selected by a user from the first web page. The media server allows download of the number of content objects after receiving the embedded information from a computer of a user.
Abstract:
A broadcast/narrowcast dual mode satellite is capable of selectively providing narrowcast operations or broadcast operations. The dual-mode satellite includes a broadcast/narrowcast dual-mode receiving system that receives from one or more terrestrial transmitting stations one or more communication uplink signals that selectively correspond to one or more narrowcast communication signals or one or more broadcast communication signals. Narrowcast communication signals are typically distinct from each other and are directed to one or more narrowcast geographic cells. Broadcast communication signals are directed to one or more broadcast regions, each of which encompasses plural narrowcast geographic cells. The dual-mode satellite also includes a broadcast/narrowcast dual-mode transmitting system that transmits one or more communication downlink signals that selectively correspond to broadcast communication signals and narrowcast communication signals received by the receiving system. Dual-mode satellite is capable of operating in the narrowcast mode or the broadcast mode, either separately or simultaneously together.
Abstract:
One method involves the use of stored value account that may be used, for example, to make internet payments, and that can be credited using a variety of payment techniques. Such a method involves receiving money at a money transfer location from a potential purchaser. The money is then stored as an electronic record in a stored value account of the purchaser. This money is then available for transfer at the request of the purchaser. Upon such a request, the money may be electronically sent to a recipient and the stored value account may be debited.
