Abstract: A cover deployment system includes a flexible cover configured to span an open top of a trailer, the trailer having a front end, a rear end, and longitudinally extending side walls extending therebetween, bow assemblies connected to the cover, and a cable system including a pair of cables, an electric actuator, a manual actuator, and a differential. The cables extend longitudinally along the longitudinal side of the trailer. Each cable defines a loop supported by a pulley at the front end of the trailer and a pulley at the rear end of the trailer. The remaining bow assemblies are movably attached to the cables. The electric actuator and the manual actuator are operatively connected to a differential positioned between the electric actuator, the manual actuator, and the pulley. The differential is connected and rotates a pulley to move the cables, thereby moving the cover between closed and open positions.

Abstract: An emergency door closing device that can be installed upon existing doors and hinges to automatically close doors in the response to smoke and fire. The improvements incorporated therein include a hinge cam pivot member that attaches to an existing hinge member of a door and produces a moment force about the existing hinge member allowing a reduced force necessary to pivot the door into a closed position. Further, a novel spring, cam, and lever system is incorporated to activate the moment force to close the door.

Abstract: A drive system for operation of a roll top cover for covering a cargo bed of a vehicle enables improved and smoother roll top cover movement. The drive system includes: an elongate housing that defines a longitudinal axis and first and second ends, the housing including an axially extending aperture for receiving the roll top cover therethrough; first and second receiving plates disposed transversely within the housing at the respective first and second ends thereof, the receiving plates comprising opposed spiral-shaped slots extending therethrough, each of the spiral-shaped slots having an open end proximally and a closed end distally; and a drive shaft assembly disposed within the housing and extending axially between the first and second ends thereof; wherein the drive shaft assembly is adapted for being operably connected to a drive chain and driving movement thereof within the spiral-shaped slots during operation of the roll top cover.

Abstract: A pulley includes a main winding portion including an annular main winding groove, where a wire is windable, formed between a first flange and a second flange; and an auxiliary winding portion including an auxiliary winding groove, where the wire is windable, formed between the second flange and a third flange. The auxiliary winding groove includes a closest portion closest to the main winding groove in the radial direction thereof, and a curved portion curved toward the main winding groove in a portion adjacent to the closest portion so that the curved portion joins the main winding groove at the closest portion. The third flange includes an auxiliary guide portion extending in the radial direction of the auxiliary winding groove so that the groove depth of the curved portion becomes larger than that of the closest portion. This structure can provide a pulley allowing easy winding of a wire.

Abstract: A door opening and closing apparatus includes a rail module including: a rail member extending along a front-and-rear direction; a drive device mounted on the rail member; and a supporting member coupled to a closing cable a part of which is wound around the rotating drum and that is hung on a closing inversion member and an opening cable a part of which is wound around the rotating drum and that is hung on an opening inversion member. The rail module is provided with the drive device fastened to an outside of a vehicle body such that a part of the drive device goes inside the vehicle body through an opening provided on the vehicle body. An outer diameter of the rotating drum of the drive device is made smaller than a maximum diameter of a deceleration mechanism for making the rotating drum rotate forward and backward.
