Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to the production of an application for transcoding video files for devices having limited computing power by means of using a grid computing platform. The platform offers storage space for the user (making use of the distributed storage capacity of the GRID platform and its own security mechanisms) where both the original video and the transcoded video will be stored. The solution also provides the device with middleware with GRID capacities in order to achieve complete GRID integration. That means that the transcoding application could either be run directly in the terminal or in the GRID.
Abstract:
The system comprises a plurality of radio access nodes, or cells, each of said cells providing a coverage area to a plurality of user equipments, characterised in that each of said radio access nodes is splitted into: a common processing section (1) which performs a main processing stage; and a plurality of remote transceiving sections (2a, 2b, 2c), each performing a local processing stage complementing said main processing stage, being operatively connected to said common processing section, and constituting a sub-cell providing a coverage sub-area, wherein said coverage area is distributed into said coverage sub-areas. The method is arranged for carrying out said splitting of radio access nodes.
Abstract:
A method for reporting channel quality information in a wireless telecommunication network, wherein the network includes a radio base station in wireless communication with a plurality of user equipments by user transmission channels, and wherein the method includes the radio base station: detecting a coherence bandwidth associated to a total transmission channel, the total transmission channel including the user transmission channels of the plurality of user equipments; selecting one reporting technique for reporting channel quality information among a plurality of available reporting techniques, the selection being based on the coherence bandwidth; and transmitting a first message to each of the plurality of user equipments, the message reporting an indication of the selected reporting technique. A radio base station, a public mobile network and a user equipment suitable to implement the method are also disclosed.
Abstract:
This invention refers to a method for providing presence information in telecommunication systems. It comprises the steps of: classifying the plurality of presence information statuses, generated by a plurality of telecommunication services associated to a user A, in groups depending on the telecommunication service; publishing simultaneously the plurality of presence information statuses of user A on a presence server; and notifying a set of presence information statuses from the plurality of the presence information statuses of user A, to a client of the presence server which is a watcher of user A. Finally the set of presence information statuses, notified by the presence server to the watcher, may be displayed on means adapted for displaying content according to their corresponding relevance, priority and expiration time.
Abstract:
It comprises: defining and managing an indoor area sensitive to the movements of user mobile processing devices, detecting events that occur automatically when a user mobile processing device interacts with said indoor defined area; and using a location server for locating said user mobile processing device based on programmed triggers and/or on triggers associated to the detected events. The method further comprises, when the location server has an unknown address or when a new location server needs to be used, determining the unknown address of the location server or the address of the new location server by collecting and exchanging parameters relating thereto between the user mobile processing device and the location server or the new location server.
Abstract:
The method comprises coordinating the use of radio resources between different network elements including a macro base station and SCENs deployed in the coverage area of the macro base station, operating in FDD mode, by means of the sending of messages between part or all of the network elements through a synchronized TDD air interface, unidirectionally, by broadcasting, or bidirectionally, through dedicated channels. The system comprises: several network elements including: a macro base station operating in FDD mode; and a plurality of SCENs deployed within the coverage area of the macro base station and also operating in FDD mode; and means for coordinating the use of radio resources between different network elements by the sending of messages between part or all of the network elements through a synchronized TDD air interface.
Abstract:
A multilayer communications network system for distributing multicast services and a method for such a distribution The system comprises a switched optical transport network layer, such as a WSON, and an electronic packet switched network layer, such as a IP/MPLS, where the switched optical transport network layer transports multicast flows services and the electronic packet switched network layer is a backup layer of a dynamic restoration mechanism for recovery against one or more failures occurring in the switched optical transport network layer. The method comprises transporting multicast flows services through the switched optical transport network layer, and performing a recovery against one or more failures occurring in the switched optical transport network layer by means of a dynamic restoring carried out by using said electronic packet switched network layer as a backup layer.
Abstract:
A method is described for providing cloud computing resources. The cloud computing resources having a plurality of virtual machine hours and/or bandwidth storage to be provided by a user and intended to attend a number of requests from the user, the requests including a plurality of tasks per second, the method portioning the virtual machine hours uniformly divided in units among several periods of time and providing access to the units virtual machine hours in response to said user's requests and dynamically allocating the cloud computing resources provided, by means of a temporal load awareness scheme.
Abstract:
A method for distributing long-tail content, including the steps of: a) loading, a first user, into a local PoP to which said first user is remotely connected an amount of long-tail content to be distributed and shared; and b) geo replicating, at selected times, the amount of long-tail content to a at least one remote PoP, to which at least a second user is remotely connected, by pushing said amount of content to be distributed and shared to the at least one remote PoP. The method including selecting, before performing steps a) and b), the at least second user, based on the probability that the amount of long-tail content generated by the first user will be requested by the at least second user, the probability being estimated by historical preference information generated between the first user and the at least second user.
Abstract:
The method comprises performing said calculation by using data provided by an image recognition process which identifies at least one geo-referenced image of an object located in the surroundings of said personal device. The system is arranged for implementing the method of the present invention.
