    Abstract: Provided is a semi-cylindrical shaped half bearing. The half bearing has an inner surface forming a sliding surface. The sliding surface includes a plurality of recesses. Each recess has a smooth recess surface recessed from the sliding surface toward an outer diameter side of the half bearing. The recess surface forms a convex curve toward the outer diameter side of the half bearing in a cross-sectional view in any direction perpendicular to the sliding surface. The recess surface includes a plurality of circumferential grooves. The circumferential grooves are recessed from the recess surface toward the outer diameter side of the half bearing. The circumferential grooves extend along a circumferential direction of the half bearing so that smooth surfaces and the circumferential grooves are alternately arranged on the recess surface.

    Abstract: When an annular portion of a thrust collar rotates together with a rotating shaft member, centrifugal force and shear force, or differential pressure caused by difference in flow rate are generated in lubricating oil in a circulation oil chamber. With this, the lubricating oil in the circulation oil chamber is guided from the inner peripheral side to the outer peripheral side of the annular portion, through a circulation hole penetrating the annular portion. The flow of lubricating oil guided by the circulation hole forms a flow of lubricating oil from a lower oil chamber to an upper oil chamber through the circulation oil chamber. As a result, the lubricating oil stored in the lower oil chamber is circulated to the upper oil chamber through the circulation oil chamber, by rotation of the thrust collar.

    Abstract: A lubricating oil passage portion that constitutes a cooling portion is exposed to the outside from a casing. Lubricating oil having absorbed heat of a thrust bearing portion and a journal bearing portion is cooled in the cooling portion, when the lubricating oil moves from an upper oil chamber to a lower oil chamber while circulating by use of gravity. Thus, the circulating lubricating oil prompts cooling of the heated thrust bearing portion and journal bearing portion. Additionally, the lubricating oil passage portion of the cooling portion is provided integrally with the casing, on the radially outer side of the casing.

    Abstract: A half thrust bearing having a semi-annular shape includes a sliding surface for receiving an axial force of a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine, and a rear surface on an opposite side of the sliding surface, and defines a reference plane on the rear surface side that is perpendicular to an axial direction. The sliding surface includes a flat surface portion near a circumferentially central portion and in parallel with the reference plane, and inclined surface portions on both sides of the flat surface portion in a circumferential direction. At any radial positions of the half thrust bearing, an axial distance between the reference plane and the sliding surface is maximum at the flat surface portion, and is reduced in the inclined surface portions toward both circumferential end portions of the half thrust bearing.

    Abstract: A sliding member includes a sliding layer including graphite particles dispersed in a synthetic resin matrix. The graphite particles have a volume ratio of 5% to 50% and are composed of spheroidal particles and flake-like particles, respectively having a graphitization degree K1 and K2. The flake-like particles have a volume ratio of 10 to 40% with respect to a total volume of the graphite particles. The spheroidal particles have a cross-sectional structure with AB planes of a graphite crystal laminated from a surface toward a center. The flake-like particles have a cross-sectional structure with the AB planes laminated in a thickness direction. The spheroidal particles and the flake-like particles have an average particle size of 3 to 50 and 1 to 25 μm respectively. K1 is 0.80 to 0.97 and K2 is greater than K1, and a difference K2 −K1 is 0.03 to 0.15.
