Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a first wireless device may request to transmit data during a transmission opportunity of a second wireless device. The request may also indicate a duration of time for which permission to transmit is requested. In some aspects, the second wireless device may send a response message to the first wireless device indicating the first wireless device has been granted permission to transmit during a transmission opportunity of the second wireless device. The response may include an indication of a period of time for which permission to transmit has been granted. In an embodiment, the response may include an indication of a period of time the first wireless device may delay or sleep before an opportunity to transmit during a transmission opportunity of the second wireless device will be available.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication are disclosed herein. One aspect of the disclosure provides a method of transmitting on a wireless communication network. The method includes transmitting to one or more first devices in a first portion of a bandwidth, the one or more first devices having a first set of capabilities, simultaneously transmitting to one or more second devices in a second portion of the bandwidth, the one or more second devices having a second set of capabilities, and wherein the transmission comprises a preamble which includes an indication for devices with the second set of capabilities to locate a frequency band in the bandwidth for symbols containing a set of transmission parameters for devices with the second set of capabilities, and where the indication is sent so as to have no substantial impact on a preamble decoding of devices with the first set of capabilities.
Abstract:
Methods and systems of providing uplink (UL) transmission power control are provided. The UL transmission power control is provided between access points (APs) and wireless stations in a multi-user (MU) unlicensed wireless network. The disclosed method includes participating in a first wireless communication between an AP and at least one station of a plurality of stations in an unlicensed wireless network, and using an uplink UL transmission power parameter transmitted from the AP to the at least one station to regulate UL power control of UL transmissions between the at least one station and the AP.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for adjusting an operating characteristic of a wireless communication network based on load to increase quality of service (QoS) are disclosed herein. One aspect of the present disclosure provides a method of communicating in a wireless communication network including a plurality of stations. The method includes determining a load of the wireless communication network and whether one or more of the plurality of stations are satisfying their QoS requirements. The method further includes determining an adjustment to the wireless communication network based at least in part on the load of the wireless communication network so as to increase a number of the plurality of stations that satisfy their QoS requirements, the adjustment based on one or more of a clear channel assessment threshold and/or a request to send and clear to send messaging in.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to a technique for selecting modulation coding schemes (MCS). In some aspects, the MCS is selected based on a characteristic of an electronic device and the MCS of a transmitter. In some aspects, the MCS is selected based on a power imbalance between an access point and a user terminal.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication are described herein. In some aspects, a method of wireless communication includes transmitting a first message for reserving a communication medium utilizing a first transmission characteristic such that the first message is decodable by at least a first subset of a plurality of wireless devices. The method may further include subsequently transmitting a second message for clearing a reservation of the communication medium utilizing a second transmission characteristic such that the second message is decodable by at least a second subset of the plurality of wireless devices and not the first subset of the plurality of wireless devices, thereby clearing access to at least one communication channel for the second subset of the plurality of wireless devices.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for communicating in a wireless communication system are described. Various processes for reducing the initial link setup time are described. In one aspect a method in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes queuing for transmission, at a first device, a first message for requesting information to establish a link with an access point, the first message including a network identifier for the access point. The method further includes, before transmission of the message, receiving a second message including the information. The method further includes removing the message from the queue when the second message includes the information.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices for compressing block acknowledgment (ACK) frames/packets are described herein. In some aspects, a method of communicating in a wireless network includes generating a block acknowledgment frame comprising a plurality of fields in the following order: a block acknowledgment identifier field including an identifier of the block acknowledgment frame; a starting sequence control field including at least one of a sequence number and a function of a sequence number of a data unit for which the block acknowledgement frame is sent; and a block acknowledgement bitmap field indicating a received status of a number of data units. The method further includes wirelessly transmitting the block acknowledgment frame.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices for paging message enhancement, for example, by allowing packets to accumulate in an access point before sending them to a station. In some implementations, a station may not have an immediate use for a packet waiting in an access point's buffer. The station may save energy and reduce medium occupancy by allowing packets to accumulate at the access point and then receiving the accumulated packets in accordance with certain criteria. Such criteria for accumulation may be based on a Quality of Service (QoS) category, the station address, or the station type. The station may set accumulation parameters, such as a maximum occupied buffer size or a maximum time for which a station's packets are delayed for accumulation.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for multiple user uplink are provided. In one aspect, a method of transmitting a physical layer convergence protocol data unit on a wireless medium includes generating a first portion and a second portion of the physical layer convergence protocol data unit, transmitting the first portion at a first data rate, the first portion decodable by a first and second sets of devices, and transmitting the second portion at a second data rate higher than the first data rate, the second portion decodable by the second set of devices.
