Abstract:
A scanner unit has first and second carriages under an original table glass. The first carriage has a first frame extending from a front side to a rear side along the original table, that is, in a main scan direction. Two rails for supporting both end portions of the first frame such that the first frame may slide in a sub-scan direction are provided on the front side and rear side of the scanner unit. A cold cathode fluorescent lamp is mounted on the first frame. In order to make a high-voltage-side harness of the cold cathode fluorescent lamp as short as possible, an inverter circuit board, which is a lighting circuit, is disposed as close as possible to a positive electrode of the cold cathode fluorescent lamp. A weight is attached on a side opposite to the inverter circuit board, thereby to stabilize a weight balance of the first frame in the main scan direction.
Abstract:
An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member having a photosensitive surface and an optical writing apparatus generating a laser beam modulated according to image data. The optical writing apparatus includes a housing, an optical deflector, an f-theta lens and a separator. The optical deflector is configured to rotate to deflect the laser beam. The f-theta lens is configured to correct the laser beam deflected by the optical deflector and to transmit a corrected laser beam towards the image bearing member. The separator is configured to separate an inside space of the housing into at least two sections including a first section in which the optical deflector is mounted and a second section in which the f-theta lens is mounted. The separator includes a heat resistant transparent plate disposed at a position of crossing passage of the laser beam between the optical deflector and the f-theta lens.
Abstract:
Collage making apparatus for assisting in the production of a collage by duplication apparatus may comprise a layout area contained within the collage making apparatus. The layout area accommodates at least one object that is to be contained in the collage. The collage making apparatus is convertible between a layout mode and a duplication mode. During the layout mode, the layout area is observable by a user so that the user may observe an arrangement of the at least one object within the layout area. During the duplication mode, the layout area is reproducible by the duplication apparatus so that the duplication apparatus produces a copy of the arrangement of the at least one object within the layout area.
Abstract:
A light-channeling apparatus for a scanning module is provided. The scanning module uses a first light-guiding tube to channel light from a light source to a scanning region and uses a second light-guiding tube to channel light reflected from the scanning region to a light passage slit on the body casing of the scanning module. As a result, very little light from the light source is dispersed and external light is kept out from the transmission pathway.
Abstract:
A chassis locking apparatus capable of being unlocked spontaneously is used for fixing the chassis in a scanner. The locking apparatus includes a groove interlinking next to the electric socket, a push rod in the groove, and a revolving locking element. By means of the strength of inserting the plug into the socket on the scanner, the push rod is pushed to move along the groove and hit the locking element, which is originally fixed on the chassis, to make the locking element rotate so that the chassis locking apparatus can be unlocked spontaneously. Therefore, no effort is necessary for a user to unlock the chassis locking apparatus by hand before using the scanner, which is convenient and timesaving.
Abstract:
In accordance with one specific, exemplary embodiment of the invention, there is provided a scanner housing comprising a back wall and opposed side walls; a transparent platen mounted on the housing for receiving an object to be scanned; and a support carried by the housing, the support being movable relative to a wall of the housing between a stowed position and a deployed position, the support comprising a surface to support an overhanging portion of the object when the support is in a deployed position. In accordance with another specific, exemplary embodiment of the invention, there is provided a scanner comprising a housing comprising opposed side walls and a back wall and a transparent platen mounted on the housing for receiving a scannable object. The scannable object may comprise a portion that will overhang one of the walls of the housing during the scanning operation. The scanner further comprises a support carried by the scanner housing, the support being movable relative to the one wall of the housing between a stowed position and a deployed position. The support comprises a surface positioned to support the overhanging portion of the scannable object in the deployed position of the support.
Abstract:
To set at least the main portion of a read original on an image reading apparatus while avoiding a discontinuous portion, the position of the discontinuous portion of photoelectric conversion element arrays is indicated, or an original holder to be used to set the original while avoiding the discontinuous portion is arranged.
Abstract:
An automatic document feeder (ADF) used in a facsimile machine, photocopier or the like. A sheet path from a sheet inlet to outlet is defined by lower, intermediate and upper frames of the ADF. The sheet path is generally shaped like “C” when viewed laterally. The intermediate frame has a pivotable member that can be opened and closed, and a guide member for guiding a sheet passing over a platen glass. An elastic member is provided for biasing the guide member on the platen surface from a turning portion of the C-shaped sheet path. Therefore, it is possible to maintain a clearance between the platen surface and guide member and prevent the sheet from flapping. A retard roller is removably supported by the pivotable member so that replacing and maintenance of the retard roller is simplified. Further, the pivotable member is a one-piece element and made from resin. A plurality of ribs extending in a sheet feed direction are provided near the sheet inlet and/or outlet so that the weight of the automatic document feeder is reduced and movements of the sheets are facilitated.

Abstract:
A locating structure for a dual-mode optical scanning device including a transparency scanning mode and a reflective scanning mode is disclosed. The locating structure includes at least one locating posts formed on a bottom surface of the transparency illumination module and at least one locating holes formed on an object focal plane of the scanner frame corresponding to the locating posts. When the transparency illumination module is closed onto the scanner frame, by means of the locating structure, the deflection between the transparency illumination module and the scanner frame can be limited, so as to accurately locate the transparency illumination module on the scanner frame and enhance the quality of scanned image.
