Abstract: In one aspect, an apparatus is described that includes a transparent pane having a first surface and a second surface. An electrochromic device is arranged over the second surface that includes a first conductive layer adjacent the second surface, a second conductive layer, and an electrochromic layer between the first and the second conductive layers. The apparatus further includes at least one conductive antenna structure arranged over the second surface.

Abstract: Embodiments of a composite structure are provided, the composite structure including: a substrate layer, a conductive layer and an overlayer. The conductive layer is disposed between the overlayer and the substrate layer. The substrate layer may comprise a material that is optically transparent over at least a part of the electromagnetic spectrum from 180 nm to 20 μm. The conductive layer includes a thickness of 10 nm or greater, a resistivity of 10 Ω-cm or less, and is an optically translucent or opaque over at least a part of the electromagnetic spectrum from 180 nm to 20 μm.

Abstract: Aspects of this disclosure concern controllers and control methods for applying a drive voltage to bus bars of optically switchable devices such as electrochromic devices. Such devices are often provided on windows such as architectural glass. In certain embodiments, the applied drive voltage is controlled in a manner that efficiently drives an optical transition over the entire surface of the electrochromic device. The drive voltage is controlled to account for differences in effective voltage experienced in regions between the bus bars and regions proximate the bus bars. Regions near the bus bars experience the highest effective voltage.

Abstract: Controllers and control methods apply a drive voltage to bus bars of a thin film optically switchable device. The applied drive voltage is provided at a level that drives a transition over the entire surface of the optically switchable device but does not damage or degrade the device. This applied voltage produces an effective voltage at all locations on the face of the device that is within a bracketed range. The upper bound of this range is associated with a voltage safely below the level at which the device may experience damage or degradation impacting its performance in the short term or the long term. At the lower boundary of this range is an effective voltage at which the transition between optical states of the device occurs relatively rapidly. The level of voltage applied between the bus bars is significantly greater than the maximum value of the effective voltage within the bracketed range.

Abstract: Onboard EC window controllers are described. The controllers are configured in close proximity to the EC window, for example, within the IGU. The controller may be part of a window assembly, which includes an IGU having one or more EC panes, and thus does not have to be matched with the EC window, and installed, in the field. The window controllers described herein have a number of advantages because they are matched to the IGU containing one or more EC devices and their proximity to the EC panes of the window overcomes a number of problems associated with conventional controller configurations. Also described are self-meshing networks for electrochromic windows.

Abstract: In various embodiments, methods, systems, software, and apparatuses for dynamically routing signals in a facility are provided, e.g., depending on current and/or predicted occupancy in the facility. The method may include: identifying small cell devices and Radio Access Units (RAUs) operatively coupled to a network of the facility; receiving one or more inputs through the network; determining a configuration for routing cellular communication signals between one or more of the small cell devices and one or more of the RAUs, which configuration is based at least in part on the one or more inputs; and routing the cellular communication signals between the one or more of the small cell devices and the one or more of the RAUs based at least in part on the configuration.

Various edge deletion and isolation scribes are performed, for example, to ensure the optical device has appropriate isolation from any edge defects. Methods described herein apply to any thin-film device having one or more material layers sandwiched between two thin film electrical conductor layers. The described methods create novel optical device configurations.

Abstract: The invention provides an E13B image interpretation method mainly aiming at interpreting numbers and symbols in a check reading code printed with magnetic ink on a check, and defining a plurality of feature areas for each of the numbers and dividing each of the numbers into a plurality of blocks, and then interpreting according to whether an amount of magnetic ink being in the feature areas and a magnetic ink density between the blocks, and also generating a plurality of target pixels for each of the symbols, and then interpreting according to a relative position and a size of the target pixels.
