摘要: A method for automatically decomposing a shape of an IC design layout into two or more shapes in order to resolve a double patterning loop violation involving the shape. The method decomposes the shape by introducing one or more splicing graphs on the shape. These splicing graphs serve as cuts to be made on the shape. By decomposing the shape into several shapes and assigning the shapes to alternating masks for the same layer, the method breaks the double patterning loop. That is, no pair of the shape and other shapes that form the loop will be assigned to the same color for a mask after the shape is decomposed. In some embodiments, the method introduces splicing points to more than one shape of the loop-forming shapes when necessary. Some embodiments minimize the number of splicing points introduced to the shape(s).

摘要: The rate controller in a digital video encoding system is responsible for allocating a bit budget for video frames to be encoded. The rate controller considers many different factors when determining the frame bit budget. One of the factors considered is the complexity of the frames being compressed. Occasionally there will be a very complex frame that is not representative of the overall video frame sequence. Such a rare complex frame may cause a disproportionate affect on the bit budget allocation. The system of the present invention limits the amount that a very complex frame can change the bit budget allocation. The rate controller of the present invention also includes a relaxation factor. The relaxation factor allows a user to determine if the rate controller should strictly allocate its bit budget or relax its standards such that the rate controller may not be so conservative when allocating bits to frames.

摘要: We describe a photovoltaic (PV) panel system comprising a PV panel with multiple sub-strings of connected solar cells in combination with a power conditioning unit (microinverter). The power conditioning unit comprises a set of input power converters, one connected to each sub-string, and a common output power conversion stage, to provide power to an ac mains power supply output. Integration of the micro-inverter into the solar PV module in this way provides many advantages, including greater efficiency and reliability. Additionally, embodiments of the invention avoid the need for bypass diodes, a component with a high failure rate in PV panels, providing lower power loss and higher reliability.

摘要: Some embodiments provide a reconfigurable IC. This IC includes a set of reconfigurable circuits for performing a mathematical operation in more than one reconfiguration cycle. To perform the mathematical operation when at least one operand has n bits, the reconfigurable circuits performs a first sub-operation on m of n bits in a first reconfiguration cycle, and a second sub-operation on p of n bits in a second reconfiguration cycle. The reconfigurable IC also includes at least one storage element for storing at least a portion of the results of the first sub-operation for use during the second reconfiguration cycle in the second sub-operation.

摘要: Some embodiments provide a method for identifying an event for a particular category. The method classifies several documents as relevant to several different categories. The method identifies a number of documents relevant to the particular category for a current time period and a background time period. Based on a comparison of the number of documents from the current time period relevant to the particular category and the number of documents from the background time period relevant to the particular category, the method identifies an event for the category for the current time period. Some embodiments calculated a score for the event, and normalize the score based on an average number of documents relevant to each of a set of related categories including the particular category.

摘要: An automated method of rendering image data using a multithread central processing unit (“CPU”) is described. The method retrieves a set of image processing instructions. The method determines an image section size to be processed by the CPU using the set of image processing instructions. The method iteratively: (i) retrieves a section of the image data that matches the image section size, and (ii) sends the section of the image data to a particular thread of the multithread CPU for processing using the processing instructions.

摘要: Some embodiments of the invention provide several novel methods for distributing image content (e.g., picture content, video content, etc.). In some embodiments, the method tags the content with data that specifies an initial target color-region for the content. Some embodiments tag the data when the content is being created, while other embodiments tag the data when the content is being edited. The method uses the tag data to reformat the content for one or more different targets for the content. For instance, during the reformatting, some embodiments use the tags to perform proper color region conversion on the content. In some embodiments, this conversion converts the colors of each pixel in the content from the initial target color region to a subsequent target color region.
