Abstract: An OCT axial length measurement device is configured to measure an area of the retina within a range from about 0.05 mm to about 2.0 mm. The area can be measured with a scanned measurement beam or plurality of substantially fixed measurement beams. The OCT measurement device may comprise a plurality of reference optical path lengths, in which a first optical path length corresponds to a first position of a cornea, and a second optical path length corresponds to a second position of the retina, in which the axial length is determined based on a difference between the first position and the second position. An axial length map can be generated to determine alignment of the eye with the measurement device and improve accuracy and repeatability of the measurements. In some embodiments, the OCT measurement device comprises a swept source vertical cavity surface emitting laser (“VCSEL”).

Abstract: A neural network is trained to segment interferogram images. A first plurality of interferograms are obtained, where each interferograms corresponds to data acquired by an OCT system using a first scan pattern, annotating each of the plurality of interferograms to indicate a tissue structure of a retina, training a neural network using the plurality of interferograms and the annotations, inputting a second plurality of interferograms corresponding to data acquired by an OCT system using a second scan pattern and obtaining an output of the trained neural network indicating the tissue structure of the retina that was scanned using the second scan pattern. The system and methods may instead receive a plurality of A-scans and output a segmented image corresponding to a plurality of locations along an OCT scan pattern.

Abstract: An apparatus to treat refractive error of the eye comprises one or more optics configured to project stimuli comprising out of focus images onto the peripheral retina outside the macula. While the stimuli can be configured in many ways, in some embodiments the stimuli are arranged to decrease interference with central vison such as macular vision. The stimuli can be out of focus images may comprise an amount of defocus within a range from about 3 Diopters (“D”) to about 6 D. In some embodiments, the brightness of the stimuli is greater than a brightness of background illumination by an appropriate amount such as at least 3 times the background brightness. In some embodiments, each of a plurality of stimuli comprises a spatial frequency distribution with an amplitude profile having spatial frequencies within a range from about range of 1×10−1 to 2.5×101 cycles per degree.

Abstract: An OCT system for measuring a retina as part of an eye health monitoring and diagnosis system. The OCT system includes an OCT interferometer, where the interferometer comprises a light source or measurement beam and a scanner for moving the beam on the retina of a patient's eye, and a processor configured to execute instructions to cause the scanner to move the measurement beam on the retina in a scan pattern. The scan pattern is a continuous pattern that includes a plurality of lobes. The measurement beam may be caused to move on the retina by the motion of a mirror that intercepts and redirects the measurement beam. The mirror position may be altered by the application of a drive signal to one or more actuators that respond to the drive signal by rotating the mirror about an axis or axes.
