    摘要: A laparoscopic stapler with a blocking body is disclosed. The blocking body allows the stapler to be inserted into the abdominal cavity through a cannula and removed therefrom until the staples are fired. When the staples are fired, the blocking body allows the stapler to be removed from the abdominal cavity of the patient through the cannula. After the staples have been fired and the stapler is removed from the abdominal cavity, the blocking body is in a blocking position where it then prevents the stapler from being reinserted through the cannula.

    摘要: A trocar for placement in the lumen of a cannula to facilitate inserting the cannula through the wall of a body cavity, the trocar comprising an obturator with a point for piercing the wall of the body cavity, and a protective sleeve mounted concentrically around the obturator. The obturator retracts proximally relative to the protective sleeve after the trocar point has penetrated through the wall of the body cavity. The protective sleeve is mounted for axial movement relative to the obturator, retracting proximally in response to drag from the wall of the body cavity as the trocar is advanced through the wall, and advancing distally after the cannula has penetrated through the wall, reducing the drag on the sleeve. The distal advancement of the sleeve triggers the retraction of the obturator.

    摘要: A surgical stapler having a supporting frame, replaceable staple cartridge, an anvil, a mechanism for approximating the cartridge relative to the anvil, and a mechanism for firing the device so as to crimp the staples against the anvil in a manner to enable the surgeon to substantially simultaneously place one or more rows of surgical staples in organs or tissue. The device, while at all times permitting approximation of the cartridge relative to the anvil, provides a novel lockout feature for positively preventing retiring if the staple cartridge is spent. In this way, unlike the prior art devices, the device of the present invention can be used as a clamping mechanism even after the staples have been fired.

    摘要: A flexible surgical stapler assembly includes a staple firing head assembly and a handle actuator assembly connected to the staple firing head assembly through a flexible spine. The staple firing head assembly includes an anvil assembly defining an anvil surface which provides an array of staple forming depressions. A staple housing on the staple firing head assembly carries an array of staples to be formed. A staple pusher means on the staple firing head assembly is provided for exerting a force on the staples in the staple housing to eject the staples from the housing and form the staples against the anvil surface. The handle actuator assembly includes a housing which defines an inner cavity. A cable carrier is provided within the cavity and is freely slidable within the cavity. A length of flexible cable is connected at one of its ends to the cable carrier and at its other end to the anvil assembly of the staple firing head assembly. A trigger mechanism consisting of a lever is provided on the housing operatively connected to the cable carrier for moving the cable carrier and thereby concomitantly forcing the staples out of the staple housing to form the staples against the anvil surface.
