Abstract:
This application discloses a method of making flexible brake bands from a continuous sheet of band material, such as thin stainless steel or high carbon steel and sheet lining by providing band end lugs near the side edges, integrally on the sheet by rolls or dies, or by welding on lug strips, applying lining from a continuous sheet, and cutting bands in unit lengths from the composite sheet.
Abstract:
A method of joining a number of parts by electrodeposition is provided. The component parts are accurately positioned on a fixture in spaced-apart relationship. The spaces between adjacent parts are filled in first with a resinous material and then with a conductive coating after which a metal is then deposited on the adjacent parts bridging the spaces therebetween.
Abstract:
Air spring apparatus including a metal housing with an elastomer shear ring sealing a reserve air volume in the body bolster of a vehicle. The air spring is arranged in series with a coil spring which has an elastomeric bumper pad and is supported on a truck bolster.
Abstract:
A safety body structure for the front end of a rear engine mounted vehicle having a kickup device for moving a spare tire from a horizontal stored position to a vertical buffer position during a frontal collision of the vehicle and providing a body structure for progressive yielding during collision.
Abstract:
A fabricated uniside unit for a unitized body structure utilizing small economical stampings doubled in high-stress areas for greater strength and forming frustum-reinforced beam sections at extremely stressed areas. Portions of the uniside units form side sill structure while other portions act as shear panels for supporting load applied to the body structure.
Abstract:
D R A W I N G A METHOD OF ELECTROFORMING A CONTAINER HAVING A THICKENED SECTION AT AN OPENING IS PROVIDED. A CATHODIC ELECTRODE SURFACE IS APPLIED ON THE ENTIRE AREA OF AN EXPENDABLE MANDREL EXCEPT FOR AN AREA AT WHICH AN OPENING IS TO BE PROVIDED. THE MANDREL IS THEN PLACED IN A BATH OF ELECTRICALLY CONDUCTIVE SOLUTION. SEPARATE POWER SOURCES ARE APPLIED TO A PLURALITY OF ANODES. ON E OF THE ANODES IS DISPOSED RELATIVELY CLOSE TO THE AREA AT WHICH AN OPENING IS TO BE FORMED THEREBY PROVIDING A RELATIVELY THICKENED PORTION OF ELECTRODEPOSITED MATERIAL WITH RESPECT TO THE MATERIAL DEPOSITED ON THE MAIN SURFACE OF THE MANDREL.

1,214,719. Vehicle bodies. BUDD CO. 8 Nov., 1968 [8 Nov., 1967], No. 53127/68. Heading B7B. A vehicle body has side panels A1 and A2 united to form a box section side sill and A-post the inner panel A1 being joggled at 35 to form an inwardly facing pocket to accommodate the terminal fitting 27 of an air conduit 25 leading from a heat exchanger to outlets 35 and 26a in the passenger space and outlets 30 adjacent the windshield for de-misting. An underframe structure having a floor 40 and side sill extensions 23 is united to the panel A1 to fully enclose the terminal fitting 27.
