摘要: Systems and methods use mobile telephones as input devices for recording audio messages on a server. A user inputs a first feature code into the mobile telephone and the feature code is sent to a mobile switching center (MSC). The MSC maps the feature code to a server and forwards the feature code and a user identification to the server. Once the mobile telephone is connected to the server, the user can record his audio message. The user can later retrieve the recorded audio message by inputting a second feature code into the mobile telephone. The second feature code is also assigned to the server. The recorded message is played after the mobile telephone is connected to the server.

摘要: A digital video broadcast (DVB) device decoder as part of a digital residential entertainment system (DRES) is disclosed. A media server, such as a broadband multimedia gateway (BMG), sends an entire transport layer, rather than a single program stream, over a Network Bus to a digital video broadcast (DVB) device decoder. The transport layer includes multiple program, data and information streams. For example, the transport layer may include multiple MPEG signals, such as MPEG-2 signals. The media server provides the DVB tuning function with integrated Personal Video Recording (PVR) functionality. The DVB device decoder provides decrypting, demultiplexing, decoding and digital-to-analog conversion. The complexity of the media server is minimized because it only has to decode a transport layer rather than decoding a single stream of data. The combination of entertainment video and data streams on the same transport is also optimized for the purpose of providing enhanced multimedia services.

摘要: An interface adapter for installing an asymmetrical digital subscriber line (ADSL) at a subscriber location is disclosed. The adapter includes a housing, a plurality of electrical conductors, a plug connector, and a receptacle connector. The electrical conductors extend into an interior region of the adapter through an entrance face of the housing. A first subset of the electrical conductors extends through a plug face of the housing and connect to a plug connector that is located in a region exterior to the housing. A second subset of the electrical conductors extends through the interior region and connect to a receptacle connector that is disposed on a receptacle face of the housing and accessible from the exterior region to receive a compatible plug connector. The adapter can also include one or more data terminals connected to a third subset of the electrical conductors. The conductors can be electrically coupled to an ADSL filter.

摘要: Aggregator devices and methods are disclosed for establishing device interaction in an environment containing other electronic devices and the aggregator device. The aggregator device has a transmitter, receiver, memory storing interaction rules, and a processor for implementing the interaction rules in association with the transmitter, receiver, and other devices of the environment. The methods involve transmitting a message to the aggregator from a first device, referencing rules of device interaction for the environment, and then according to the rules of device interaction, transmitting a message from the aggregator to a second device. The rules of device interaction may include instructions that are to be transmitted from the aggregator in response to the aggregator receiving change of state messages from devices of the environment.

摘要: Devices and methods are disclosed for a user interface permitting interaction directly between a user and devices of a device environment. A user interface device includes a display screen and memory storing representations of devices, their functions, and interaction rules. A processor displays the representations of devices and functions with connections shown between the representations on the screen to visually present the interaction rules. Choices may be provided through a user interface for user initiated learning in the environment so the user may initiate state changes on the devices themselves to produce the interaction rule. Additionally, the user may create a rule by selecting representations of devices and their functions on the screen to associate a function of one device with a function of another device. Also, a choice of device to query for information may be displayed on the screen, and the queried information is displayed once received.

摘要: A system and method for notifying one or more credit card companies of lost or stolen credit cards relatively automatically upon noticing that the one or more credit cards are missing. A user profile is created and stored on a server computer system, wherein the user profile has user verification information, credit card account information and credit card company contact information, typically for each credit card owned by a particular user. Using the user profile, the server computer system receives a request to cancel one or more of the owner's credit cards. The server computer system then communicates with each individual credit card company, relatively automatically, to notify of the loss. The communication may involve the request to cancel the credit card(s), as well as a request for a replacement credit card. Additionally, the owner may be notified by the server computer system that the request(s) have been made and/or by the credit card companies of the received request(s) and respective account status.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for utilizing calling party personal calendaring and scheduling information to facilitate enhanced directory assistance information. After obtaining a directory number for a called party from a subscriber's address book or from a directory assistance service, a voice services node queries a personal scheduling calendar of the called party to determine whether the called party is currently located at a location other than the location accessible by the obtained directory number. If so, the voice services node may obtain an alternate directory number for the current location of the called party, and the voice services node may automatically place a call to the called party via the alternate directory number or provide the alternate directory number to the subscriber.
