摘要: A device for cleaning up spilled oil from the surface of a body of water, including a vessel adapted to float on the body of water and to pass over the oil, wherein the vessel has an inclined bow surface for directing the oil downwardly beneath the vessel. The device includes an oil/water separation column carried on the vessel having an inner cavity with a lower end forming a bottom opening oriented substantially parallel to the surface of the body of water in fluid communication with the water and spilled oil such that oil directed downwardly beneath the vessel by the bow surface is directed to the bottom opening. At least a substantial portion of the oil/water separation column is narrowed with increasing height beginning at least at a height approximately corresponding to the water line. The device further includes at least a pump in sealed engagement with an upper end portion of the oil/water separation column, the at least a pump for drawing water and the spilled oil into the oil/water separation column and for drawing the spilled oil from the oil/water separation column.

摘要: A method of commissioning a lighting system is disclosed. A user is provided with a pointing device capable of emitting or returning a signal which can be received by detectors co-located with each fixture in the lighting system. The user can add a fixture to a group by aiming the pointing device at the fixture when the fixture is not assigned to the group, and the user can remove a fixture from a group in the same way when the fixture was previously assigned to the group. This commissioning method can be used with a lighting system comprising a central control unit and a plurality of fixtures comprising luminaires, optional control devices, and optional standalone sensors, wherein each fixture includes a co-located sensor capable of receiving the signal emitted by the pointing device, and a central control unit which can communicate bidirectionally with each fixture. Additional user gestures are disclosed together with methods for the central control unit to acknowledge gestures. Additional communications methods among components of the lighting system are also disclosed.

摘要: An ostomy pouching system having an ostomy wafer with a sealing ring around an opening therein and an ostomy bag having an opening with a sealing ring around the ostomy bag opening, the ostomy bag sealing ring sealingly connectable to the sealing ring of the ostomy wafer. An insert is insertable into the ostomy bag through the ostomy bag opening. The insert has an opening with a flange surrounding the opening and extending flat over the sealing ring of the ostomy bag so that upon the sealing ring of the ostomy bag engaging the sealing ring on the wafer, the flange is sealed between the ostomy bag sealing ring and the wafer sealing ring.

摘要: A tire condition sensor unit (e.g., 18A) is for use within a tire condition communication system (10). The sensor unit (e.g., 18A) is for association with a tire (e.g., 14A) of a vehicle (12) and, via a method, communicates a tire condition to a vehicle-based unit (28). A sensor (58) senses the tire condition. Radio frequency transmit circuitry and an antenna (68 and 22) transmit a radio frequency signal (e.g., 24A) that indicates the sensed tire condition. In one aspect, a low frequency antenna and a signal detector (48 and 52) receive a low frequency initiation signal that causes transmission of the radio frequency signal indicative of the sensed tire condition. In another aspect, the radio frequency signal is also indicative of a fixed identification.

摘要: A communication system (10) has a portion (28) of a transmitter controller (14) that provides a message package. An encryption portion (36) of the controller (14) encrypts a first fraction of the message package (e.g., a first portion of the message package and a first part of a second portion of the message package) using a second fraction of the message package (e.g., a second part of the second portion of the message package) as an encryption key. Transmitter components (32 and 34) output a signal (18) that conveys the encrypted first fraction of the message package. Receiver components (56 and 58) receive the signal (18). A decryption portion (60) of a receiver/controller unit (16) decrypts the signal using a decryption key, and reassembles the message package using the decryption key as the second fraction of the message package. Preferably, the communication system (10) is a remote convenience system for remotely controlling a convenience function.
