Abstract: There is provided a liquid sensor capable of detecting a liquid level with high accuracy regardless of the type and quality of the liquid. The liquid sensor detects a liquid level in a state where at least part of the liquid sensor is immersed in the liquid. The liquid sensor includes a substrate. A plurality of electrodes are formed on the substrate. A first electrode portion is constructed by a first pair of electrodes included in the plurality of electrodes. A second electrode portion is constructed by a second pair of electrodes included in the plurality of electrodes. A hole is formed in the substrate. The first pair of electrodes are formed on the inner peripheral surface of the substrate formed by the hole. In a state where the liquid sensor is immersed in the liquid, the second electrode portion is positioned below the first electrode portion.

Abstract: A dispensing system for a beverage comprises in a tap system a bore for housing a duct. Along the bore, close to or on the duct, at least two electrodes are provided such that at least at some locations along the duct, the two electrodes are provided opposite to one another with the duct in between, thus constituting a capacitor. An oscillating signal is provided to one electrode and a signal is read out from the other electrode. As a beverage is drawn through the duct in a container, capacitance of the capacitor changes. The flowing beverage may have different characteristics, but capacitance may also change as the beverage in the duct is in conducting contact with a container that may be in contact with a ground contact. The change of capacitance results in a change of the amplitude of a detection circuit connected to the second electrode.

Abstract: A signal generator for producing periodic signals for a measuring apparatus of automation technology. The signals have sequential, discrete signal frequencies, which lie within a predetermined frequency range. A control- and/or computing unit, a clock signal producer are provided, wherein the clock signal producer provides a constant sampling frequency, which is greater than the maximum discrete signal frequency in the predetermined frequency range. A memory unit is provided, in which for each of the discrete signal frequencies the amplitude values of the corresponding periodic signals are stored or storable as a function of the sampling frequency. The control- and/or computing unit reads out the stored or storable amplitude values of the discrete frequencies successively with the sampling frequency of the clock from the memory unit and produces the periodic signals, or forwards for producing. A static filter unit, is also provided with a limit frequency, which lies above the maximum signal frequency and which removes frequency fractions caused by the sampling.

Abstract: A hematology instrument with liquid level detection for liquid in a container is provided. The hematology instrument includes a probe disposed next to a container site. The probe is displaceable relative to the container site to enter a container when positioned at the container site. Further, the probe is electrically grounded. The hematology instrument includes a capacitive sensor having at least one capacitive electrode disposed next to the container site. The capacitive sensor also has a detection module to detect capacitive changes at the at least one capacitive electrode when the probe contacts liquid in the container. The hematology instrument also includes a calibration module configured to calibrate the capacitive sensor a plurality of times as the probe displaces relative to the container site to enter the container. Kits and methods related thereto are also provided.
