The present invention relates to a TV and a control method of the same which is capable of displaying function information or an error checkup menu etc. of a TV in accordance with a request of a user, in particular to a TV in accordance with the present invention comprises a service-related site server for providing function information and error item information of a product, a storing unit for storing proper information of the product and contact information of the service-related site, and a controlling unit for displaying the function information on a screen of the product by using the contact information and proper information and controlling in order to restore automatically an error occurred in the product, accordingly a user can be provided product information easily and an error occurred in a TV can be restored automatically.

Disclosed herein are a media signal sink (100) having a graphic user interface (GUI) function and a method for displaying devices connected thereto. In a method for operating a media signal sink (100) connected with one or more signal sources (200,202,204,206,208) each having one or more devices, the display method includes checking connection states of the signal sources (200,202,204,206,208) to the signal sink (100), and displaying menu items of the devices of the signal sources (200,202,204,206,208) connected to the signal sink (100) in a GUI screen, based on a result of the connection state check. In the GUI screen, menu items of the same type of devices, among the devices of the signal sources (200,202,204,206,208), are displayed under the condition that they are grouped into one group. Also, in the GUI screen, menu items of devices corresponding to the same type of signal sources are displayed under the condition that they are grouped into one group.

More specifically, the device includes a memory configured to store data, a primary tuner configured to synchronize at least one transmit stream (TS) of the selected channel, a secondary tuner configured to synchronize each of all available channels in sequential order, a TS processing unit configured to convert the at least one TS into audible audio, displayable video, and displayable data broadcast, a controller configured to determine channels which provide data broadcast from the synchronized channels from the secondary tuner and to store a channel list, which includes channels determined to provide data broadcast, a display module configured to display the channel list on a screen, and at least one speaker configured to output audible audio of the channel.

A television (TV) with a language selection function and an associated control method is provided which allows a user to select a desired display language regardless of a language in which programming is broadcast. The TV includes a network interface which allows a control unit of the TV to transmit pertinent character information extracted from the broadcast signal to an appropriate translation site through a network interface unit and a translation relay site server. The character information is then translated at the translation site, synched with the corresponding audio information, and relayed back to the control unit for output through the TV. In this manner, character information included in a broadcast signal may be quickly and accurately translated into a language selected by a user and output on a display portion of the TV.

An image display device with a built-in karaoke and a method for controlling the same are disclosed, wherein an audio of a broadcasted program is divided into a plurality of elements, so as to be selectively controlled when required. The method for controlling the image display device with a built-in karaoke includes receiving an output signal and demultiplexing the received signal into an accompaniment signal and a vocal signal, and selectively outputting the accompaniment signal and the vocal signal both included in the received signal, when a user selects an accompaniment mode.

An apparatus and a method for interacting with a mobile telephone are provided. A remote control unit receives a user command and transmits it to a TV system which recognizes the user command as a telephone function command and transmits the function command to the mobile telephone if the TV system is set to Telephone Mode. The TV system may also output data received from the mobile telephone in response to the transmitted function command. Thus, a user may interact with a mobile telephone using an interactive TV system by displaying text/image data received from the telephone and by inputting various telephone function commands using a remote control unit. Upon receiving a function command from the TV system, the mobile telephone generates output data in response to the function command and transmits itto the TV system. A display unit of the TV system displays the text/image data, and a speaker outputs the sound data. As a result, a user may conveniently interact with a mobile telephone using a display unit and a speaker of an interactive TV system with a remote control unit.

The present invention relates to a TV which is capable of displaying an OSD (On Screen Display) with a user request language and format, in particular to a TV having an OSD function and a control method of the same which is capable of generating a pertinent OSD by being provided a user OSD set menu and an OSD generation program corresponding to the original information of a TV, satisfying a desire of a user by displaying the generated OSD on a screen, and improving the convenience.
