摘要: Improved thermal insulation between the inside of a building and the outside environment is provided by a multiple-glazed window comprising two transparent glass sheets, an exterior sheet and an interior sheet, spaced from each other and joined about their edges to form a sealed, enclosed space between them as the exterior sheet is a heat-absorbing glass having an infrared reflecting, transparent film of tin oxide disposed on its surface which faces the interior glass sheet in the window.

摘要: A fault-tolerant magnetoresistive solid-state storage device (MRAM) in use performs error correction coding and decoding of stored information, to tolerate physical defects. At manufacture, the MRAN device is tested to confirm that each set of storage cells is suitable for storing ECC encoded data, using either a parametric evaluation (step 602), or a logical evaluation (step 603) or preferably a combination of both. Failed cells are identified and a count is formed, suitably in terms of ECC symbols 206 that would be affected by such failed cells (step 604). The count can be compared to a threshold (step 605) to determine suitability of the accessed storage cells and a decision made (step 606) on whether to continue with use of those cells, or whether to take remedial action.

摘要: A groundwater decontamination system includes a decontamination unit adapted to be lowered down through a non-pumping well into an aquifer containing contaminated water. The unit can also be raised up and out of the non-pumping well for cleaning, servicing or replacement. The decontamination unit includes a porous outer tube with a plurality of holes through which contaminated water flows, and a porous inner tube with a plurality of holes through which flows in-flowing contaminated water flowing through outer tube. A contaminant removing reactive barrier material is disposed within the inner tube for removing on contact contaminants from the in flowing water. A flow directing arrangement, preferably in the form of flow directing fins, directs in-flowing water from the holes in the outer tube to the holes in the inner tube (i.e., provider of the channeling of the ground water into the reactive barrier material). The system can monitor the contaminant removal, as well as other conditions of the groundwater.

摘要: A non-black roof sheeting material may be prepared from a composition of matter comprising 100 parts by weight of at least one polymeric rubber selected from the group consisting of ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymers, ethylene-propylene copolymers and other polyolefinic type polymers; from about 20 to about 300 parts by weight of a blend of at least two mineral fillers, per 100 parts of said polymeric rubber, wherein one of said mineral fillers is a reinforcing silica and wherein another of said mineral fillers is a chemically modified clay; from about 20 to about 150 parts by weight of a processing oil, per 100 parts of said polymeric rubber; from 1 to about 6 parts by weight of a sulfur cure package having at least one accelerator but being devoid of any thiuram accelerators, said cure package allowing said sheeting material to cure at about the same rate as a comparable black roof sheeting material at 160.degree. C. The non-black (white) sheeting material may form the ply of a white-on-black bilaminant roofing membrane or it may represent both the top and bottom ply of a non-black (white) polymeric roof sheeting material.
