摘要: Hitless Switching provides a method of delivering data to a remote point in a reliable fashion. However, no guarantee or acknowledgement is provided that data has been written to a remote storage device. This is problematic for remote data mirroring. Apparatus and methods are provided to guarantee that data arriving at a remote terminal is correctly stored. Interaction with hitless switching and remote optical mirroring systems are described.

摘要: The invention relates particularly to the switching of an SDH low order VC-3 using a high order switching apparatus, such as an STS switch. A low order VC-3 is aligned with a TU-3 pointer to form a TU-3. The TU-3 is mapped into a high order VC-3 type data structure which, in turn, is aligned with an AU-3 pointer to form an AU-3 type data structure. The AU-3 type data structure is suitable for switching by the high order switch. After switching, the AU-3 type data structure is combined with similar AU-3 type data structures and converted into an AU-4 suitable for transmission across an SDH/SONET network. Advantageously, the arrangement is such that each AU-3 pointer has the same fixed value. Hence, conversion to an AU-4 is achieved by a fixed pointer replacement operation. The invention significantly reduces the amount of pointer processing that is required in comparison with conventional techniques for switching low order VC-3s using low order VT/TU switches and in comparison with a ITU-T standards compliant approach for switching low order VC-3s using a high order switch. The present invention relates to the switching of low order data structures. In particular, the invention relates to switching an SDH low order VC-3 using a high order switching apparatus.

摘要: A method and device for rendering safe the opening or removal of a machine door which is normally kept locked to guard machinery or an area which is potentially hazardous. The device includes a lock unit having a lock body for connection to the frame panel of machinery to be guarded and supports an electrical switch. A key unit includes a key body which supports a rotatable control knob and a key adapted to cooperate with the lock body when the door is closed on the frame panel. The key body includes a radially extending peripheral flange formed with a hole towards its outer edge which rotatably receives the head of a screw. The threaded end of the screw cooperates with a threaded hole in the frame panel when the door is closed and must be screwed fully into the hole to fully close the door onto the panel. The control knob which can be depressed and rotated to OFF and ON positions includes a mask in the form of an arcuate flange which renders the head of the screw accessible for operation only when the control knob assumes a particular angular OPEN position. The screw must be screwed into the threaded hole in the frame unit and the control knob depressed and rotated to the ON position before power is supplied to the machinery. Unlocking cannot be effected until the control knob is turned to the OFF position and further turned to the OPEN position to unmask the screw head whereupon the screw can be unscrewed from the frame panel to allow the door to be opened. The delay produced by the time taken to unscrew the screw allows rotating machinery to come to rest before the door can be opened.

摘要: The invention provides a method and apparatus for providing hitless protection switching in a transmission systems which support a standardized implementation of virtual concatenation. A switching apparatus is arranged to receive data signals on at least two transmission paths and to output data from a selected one of said transmission paths. The apparatus is arranged to align the respective received data signals so that a selector mechanism can select between corresponding elements of the received data signals. This arrangement allows hitless switching to be performed since there is no loss or repetition of signal elements when switching occurs. In a preferred embodiment, data in respect of each frame of each data signal is stored and the selector mechanism selects between paths on a frame-by-frame basis by comparing quality information carried by the data signals. This arrangement offers a very low end to end Bit Error Rate (BER) performance. The invention is suitable for both synchronous and non-synchronous networks (for example, OTN) which implement standardized virtual concatenation.

摘要: A material-handling apparatus comprising a compressed air reservoir within which is a material supply vessel interconnecting the upper and lower ends of the air reservoir to strengthen the air reservoir against bursting. The supply vessel has a closable upper opening through which it can receive material and a lower opening through which the material can be discharged by closing said upper opening and then permitting compressed air from the air reservoir to enter the supply vessel near its upper end. To avoid the use of pipes to interconnect the compressed air reservoir with the material supply vessel, the interior of the compressed air reservoir communicates with the interior of the material supply vessel directly through one or more valve members in the wall or walls of the material supply vessel.

摘要: The invention provides an optical burst switch in an Optical Burst Switched (OBS) communication network, said optical burst switch comprising means for monitoring and maintaining mesh of virtual optical paths from a communication node to a plurality of other communication nodes, arranged in a ring network, enabling traffic data to be transmitted and/or received between nodes via a physical optical path. The switch also provides means for sending a data packet probe on a virtual path from a node to each other node in the OBS communication network, wherein data packet probe information received at said switch provides information of availability of the physical optical path for sending traffic data between nodes. The switch can be configured such that the rate at which this path monitoring is scheduled guaranteeing less than 50 ms protection switch in the event of monitoring a failed or degraded path.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for generating a set of classifiers. A location is determined for each instance of a topic term in a collection of documents. One or more topic term phrases are identified, and one or more sentiment terms within each topic term phrase. Candidate classifiers are identified by parsing words in the one or more topic term phrases, and a colocation matrix is generated. A seed row of the colocation associated with a particular attribute is identified, and distance metrics are determined by comparing each row of the colocation matrix to the seed row. A set of classifiers are generated for the particular attribute, where classifiers in the set of classifiers are selected using the distance metrics.
