Abstract:
The invention provides a photometric method of determining courses of reaction in a specimen, in which method the intensities of the transmitted light and of the stray light are measured, wherein the two intensities are measured simultaneously and the electrical signals corresponding to the transmitted light and to the stray light are combined to form one signal. The invention makes it possible to perform reliable measurement even with low levels of transmitted and stray light. The method is preferably used in determining the coagulation times of blood. Apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A communication system for transmitting information via drilling rod linkages includes a drill drive, drilling rod linkages comprising a first drilling rod linkage and at least one second drilling rod linkage. The first drilling rod linkage comprises an electrical line, an upper end and a lower end which comprises a receptacle for a drill head. The second drilling rod linkage comprises at least one electrical line, an upper end and a lower end. A sensor and/or actuator is arranged at the lower end of the first drilling rod linkage and at the drill head and transmits data. A first communication unit and an electronics unit are arranged at a drive end. A further communication unit is arranged at the upper end of the first drilling rod linkage and at the upper and lower ends of the second drilling rod linkage. The first communication unit and the further communication units are radio modules which transmit/receive data.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a new crystalline form of cefdinir and processes for the preparation thereof. Furthermore, the present invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising said new crystalline form of cefdinir and to processes for preparing these compositions.
Abstract:
A device and method for synchronizing at least two printing-unit groups (2, 3) which represent a sheet-fed printing machine (1). Between the two printing-unit groups (2, 3) there is provided a transfer unit (10) being operable by means of a separately controllable drive (12). The present invention is used in sheet-fed printing machines assembled in serial arrangement.

Abstract:
A process for purifying waste gases from smelting, resmelting or combustion plant furnaces and the use of the filter dusts produced. The invention is used in particular in the production or preparation of nonferrous metals. According to the invention, at least one alkali compound, in particular NaHCO.sub.3, is injected dry, optionally in the presence of activated carbon and/or open hearth coke, into the waste gas leaving the production process. The separated filter dust is fed back to the smelting or combustion process. It has unexpectedly been found that the returned filter dust can lower the dioxin and furan contents of the crude gas. Owing to the composition of the filter dust, it can also be used as protective salt in secondary aluminum production.
Abstract:
A drive system for a printing machine with a plurality of printing units connected to one another via a gear train into which power is fed at different points by at least two motors, includes supplying each of the motors via a respective controllable, line-commutated converter. A signal is generated by each of the converters that is limited in time between two firing pulses. A current setpoint value is transferred only within a time span in which all of the converters have activated the signal. Coverage of all of the signals which are limited in time is assured in all operating states.
Abstract:
An interior trim component 1 for a motor vehicle comprises a base 2 of a fibrous base material of approximately 80% wood fibers and approximately 20% synthetic resin fibers, which is compressed and consolidated by the action of pressure and heat into the desired shape. Padding and/or a fabric insert 5 may be placed over selected areas of the surface of the base 2 and a sheet 7 of plastic material is bonded over the whole of the visible side of the base 2, the parts of the plastic sheet 7 overlying the insert 5 having a continuous impressed separation so that they may be removed. The fibrous base material which is in the form of fibrous fleece mats of approximately 20 to 30 mm thickness is consolidated in a hot-pressing shaping tool at 4000 N/M.sup.2 and approximately 200.degree. C. to a final thickness approximately one tenth the initial thickness, but is consolidated to a lesser extent in selected surface areas 4 to produce a greater final thickness between one fifth and two fifths the initial thickness, so as to provide a cushioning effect.
Abstract:
A photo electric light detection device comprising an array of photodiodes is disposed at an end face of a light conducting rod in order to produce an output signal proportional to light incident on the surface of the rod and transmitted to the end face by total internal reflection. The array of photodiodes is subdivided into high and low pass frequency sub-arrays and the output signals from the sub-arrays are summed and processed to compensate for stray light. The device is useful in connection with a line scanner for detecting anomalies in a moving band.
Abstract:
A printing press drive system includes at least one drive having a motor with an external rotor equipped with permanent magnets, the one drive being assigned to at least one cylinder of the printing press for driving the cylinder, and with a stator provided with windings and firmly fixed to the side panel of the printing press, at least part of the drive system being implemented via a gear train, and the rotor having a gear rim at a perimeter thereof.
