Abstract: Embodiments of a system and method for processing and recognizing non-contact types of human input to prevent contamination are generally described herein. In example embodiments, human input is captured, recognized, and used to provide active input for control or data entry into a user interface. The human input may be provided in variety of forms detectable by recognition techniques such as speech recognition, gesture recognition, identification recognition, and facial recognition. In one example, the human input recognition techniques are used in connection with a device cleaning workflow used to obtain data and human input during cleaning procedures while minimizing cross-contamination between the contaminated device or person and other objects or persons. In another example, the human input recognition techniques are used in connection with a device tracking workflow used to obtain data and human input while tracking interactions with and locations of the contaminated or uncontaminated device.

Abstract: A system for decontaminating a device, such as a medical device, includes a decontamination chamber configured to retain the device and a chemical dispersion assembly configured to deliver a decontaminating fluid to the decontamination chamber. A pressure control assembly is connected to the decontamination chamber and configured to control the pressure in the decontamination chamber. The system also includes a system controller configured to control the decontamination chamber, chemical dispersion assembly, and pressure control assembly. A decontaminating fluid is added into the decontamination chamber at a first rate while increasing the pressure in the decontamination chamber. Adding the decontaminating fluid increases a relative humidity in the decontamination chamber.

Abstract: The invention provides for a low pH disinfectant composition that includes a relatively low amount of alcohol. Also provided is an article of manufacture that includes a textile and the composition, as well as methods of using the composition and article of manufacture (e.g., for reducing the number of microbes located upon a substrate, for killing or inhibiting a broad spectrum of microorganisms, for killing or inhibiting spore forming bacteria, and/or for disinfecting a substrate). The composition can optionally include a stable residual antimicrobial compound, thereby providing a combination of high-level disinfection and long-lasting residual effect.

Abstract: An endoscope cleansing accessory is described for use at the bedside, manual cleaning sink, or prior to decontamination of the endoscope with an automatic endoscope reprocessing (AER) apparatus. The cleansing accessory includes a cleansing pod or bulbous package filled with a cleaning composition, such as a foam, fluid or powder, and a blocking mechanism located at or near an opening of the cleansing pod. The blocking mechanism is configured to block a suction channel once the cleansing pod is tightly fitted over a distal end of the endoscope. External pressure applied to the outside of the cleansing pod in the form of repeated compression or squeezing drives the cleaning fluid through an elevator platform or forceps raiser bridge mechanism within the endoscope's distal end to loosen tissue and other particles, which can then be flushed out during manual cleaning or by the flowing cleansing fluid of an AER.
