摘要: A fastener retention system, including for a filter housing, applies an axial retention force in a plastic molded structure having a bore in a standing tower extending along an axis. A fastener extends axially in the bore and has a first axial end retained in the bore in snap fit relation, and a second distally opposite axial end extending axially beyond the bore for mating with a retaining member holding a cover on a base in a filter application in assembled condition. The fastener is secured to the tower in permanent snap fit relation. The fastener is axially slid into the bore before crystallization and hardening of the plastic. The fastener is axially trapped in the bore between spaced facing abutments, and is anti-rotationally keyed thereto.

摘要: A filter includes a filter element formed of filter media, and a plastic framework molded and bonded to and structurally supporting the filter media. One embodiment desirably provides a two-component assembly consisting solely of two components, namely the filter media and the plastic framework molded thereon. In a further embodiment, the plastic framework includes a resilient seal integrally molded therewith and of the same plastic material thereof, eliminating a separate component for the seal. In a further embodiment, a filter combination includes a primary filter element and a secondary filter element. In a further embodiment, a resilient integrally molded seal is provided.

Fluid to be filtered flows laterally through the filter element and axially through a hollow interior and through an axial flow opening of the second end cap. The filter element is mounted to the base solely by the second end cap in rotational relationship independently of the first end cap, eliminating the third component traditionally needed for mounting a housing cover to the base and enclosing and/or sealing and/or retaining the filter element in the housing.

Fluid flows substantially directly axially through the filter element, with minimal bending and change of direction, minimizing flow restriction.

摘要: A filter (10, 10a) includes a housing (12, 12a) extending along an axis (14). and having an inlet (16, 16a) at one axial end (18, 18a) of the housing and having an outlet (20, 20a) at a distally opposite axial end (22, 22a) of the housing. One or more pleated filter elements (44, 44a, 44b, 44c, 44d) in the housing are pleated along a plurality of bend lines (46, 48) extending axially. The filter element has a plurality of wall segments (50) extending in serpentine manner between the bend lines. The wall segments extend axially between upstream ends (52) and downstream ends (54) and define axial flow channels (58, 62) therebetween. The upstream ends of the wall segments are alternately sealed (56) to each other to defme a first set of flow channels (58) having open upstream ends (60), and a second set of flow channels (62) interdigitated with the first set of flow channels and having closed upstream ends (64). The downstream ends of the wall segments are alternately sealed to each other (66) such that the first set of flow channels have closed downstream ends (68), and the second set of flow channels have open downstream ends (70). Fluid to be filtered flows substantially directly axially through the filter element (44) or elements (44a, 44b, 44c, 44d), through the open upstream ends of the first set of flow channels then through the wall segments then through the open downstream ends of the second set of flow channels. A gasket (82, 82a, 82b, 82c) seals the filter element to the housing.

摘要: A fluid pumping system with energy recovery features may provide feed water to a reverse osmosis unit. The system includes an electronic controller unit that regulates the output of three hydraulic pumps. Each hydraulic pump drives the movement of a piston in a cylinder. The pistons collectively deliver a generally constant flow of high pressure feed water. Valve bodies direct reverse osmosis concentrate to the back sides of the pistons. The electronic controller coordinates the output of the hydraulic pumps with the actuation of the valve bodies. Movement of the pistons is controlled, in part, by a feed back loop to verify the desired hydraulic pump output. Valve bodies are designed to begin closing when an associated piston velocity decreases. The valve body moves after a dwell period when an associated piston should not be moving. The piston and cylinder are designed for exposure to high salt-content water.
