Abstract:
An end-to-end cell connection system for a battery assembly uses a conductive interconnector with an inner portion welded to an end of one cell, a standoff portion contiguous with the ring portion, tabs extending from the standoff portion, with the tabs welded to an end of another cell. By placing an insulator between the interconnector and the one cell, an electrical short is prevented in the event that a longitudinally coupled cell group is jostled. At the cell connections, there is a recess. To hold the cell group in place, the housing has a tab extending into the recess. The tab is at the center so that any dimensional variations are accommodated on each side of the tab. The interconnector also may include a receptacle for a thermistor to obtain a measure of battery assembly temperature. Diverter ribs may be provided in the housing to distribute flow to all cells.
Abstract:
A hybrid multichannel porous structure for processing between two fluid streams of different compositions includes a housing and one or more structures disposed within the cavity of the housing in a shell and tube configuration. Each structure includes a body made of a porous, inorganic material and a plurality of channels for processing an optional sweep stream. Each channel is coated with a membrane layer. A feed stream introduced into the housing is in direct contact with the structures such that a gas selectively permeates through the body and into the channels. The gas combines with the sweep stream to form a permeate that exits from each channel. The remaining feed stream forms a retentate that exits from the housing. The feed stream may consist of syngas containing hydrogen gas and the sweep stream may contain nitrogen gas. A power plant that incorporates the hybrid structure is disclosed.
Abstract:
A fuel delivery system for an internal combustion engine, the system comprising at least one fuel injector, said fuel injector comprising a control chamber having an inlet for receiving highly pressurised fuel and an outlet enabling fuel to flow out of the control chamber into a back-leak passage associated with the fuel injector, wherein the fuel injector is operable between an injecting state and a non-injecting state in dependence on the fuel pressure within the control chamber. The system further includes a pressure regulator for regulating the fuel pressure within the back-leak passage so as to maintain the injector back-leak pressure at a predetermined target value which is below atmospheric pressure.
Abstract:
A seal for an opening of a bore in a component, with a threaded screw, around a core shaft of which a helical screw thread is arranged. The screw engages in the bore and the thread creates a mating thread in a wall of the bore. The diameter of the bore is larger than the diameter of the core shaft. A helical channel, which is located between the core shaft of the screw and a wall of the bore, and which is delimited by the thread, is interrupted at a minimum of one point in a liquid-tight and/or gas-tight manner.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an optical connector for use in a fibre optic communications system, and particularly an expanded beam optical connector (20) for connecting optical fibres. The connector (20) comprises a housing (6), a port (48) within the housing for receiving an end (35) of an optical fibre (38), a cylindrical ferrule (32) within the housing (6) having opposite first and second ends (33, 35), and an optical fibre stub held axially (14) within the ferrule (32) and extending between said ferrule ends (33, 35). The connector (20) also has a lens (8) for projecting and/or receiving an expanded beam (40) optically coupled with the optical fibre stub at the first ferrule end (33). A sleeve (34) surrounds the ferrule (32) and extends towards the port (48) axially away from the second ferrule end (35) to present an open end to the sleeve for receiving a termination ferrule (36) of an optical fibre (38) inserted into the port. The connector (20) has a connector portion (2, 4, 5) for connecting the optical fibre connector (20) to another expanded beam optical fibre connector so that said expanded beam (40) traverses between the connectors. A channel (28) extends through the housing (6) from the port (48) towards the lens (8), the ferrule (32) being secured by means of a cured adhesive (30) to the housing (6) and in alignment with respect to the lens (8), the open end of the sleeve (34) and/or the second end (35) of the ferrule being surrounded by a void (60) within the channel (28).
Abstract:
Terminals of a battery pack are electrically connected via bus bars. The terminals are configured to receive and retain a portion of a bus bar via a retention force. The terminals allow a bus bar to have more than one orientation relative to the terminal. Additionally, the terminals include features that locate the bus bars relative to the terminals.
Abstract:
An optical semiconductor device may include a semiconductor component having an optical sensor on a front face thereof, and a transparent plate having electrical connection lines on a rear face thereof and lying outside a free region of the rear face. The front face of the semiconductor component may be attached to the rear face of the transparent plate so that the optical sensor is adjacent the free region. The optical semiconductor device may also include electrical connectors electrically connecting the semiconductor component to the electrical connection lines, a sealing spacer extending only partway between the front face of the semiconductor component and the rear face of the transparent plate at the periphery of the optical sensor, and an encapsulating material for encapsulating the electrical connectors and a periphery of the semiconductor component on the rear face of the transparent plate. The sealing spacer may be structurally distinct from, abutting, and retaining the encapsulating material.
Abstract:
A vehicle seat assembly for storage in a floor tub within a vehicle floor. The seat assembly includes a seat frame defining a translational axis and a longitudinal axis. The seat assembly also includes a mounting system for mounting the seat frame to the floor tub for selective rotation between a deployed design configuration and a fully tumbled stored-in-floor configuration, with the seat frame being inside the floor tub in the stored-in-floor configuration. Notably, the seat assembly further includes a lateral translation system for positive inboard displacement of the seat frame along the translational axis during the selective rotation of the seat frame from the design configuration towards the stored-in-floor configuration. In the design configuration, the medial seat axis is laterally off-set from a central tub axis defined by the floor tub. In the stored-in-floor configuration, the medial seat axis is aligned with the central tub axis.
