Abstract: A method of dehydrating a hydrocarbon gas stream including stripping water from a liquid desiccant stream using a water-undersaturated portion of the gas stream, drying the gas stream to extract the stripped water, and then further drying the partially-dried gas stream using the stripped desiccant to achieve a low water content level in the gas stream for pipeline transportation. In one embodiment, the liquid desiccant is supplied by a regeneration facility at a remote location and the liquid desiccant is returned to the regeneration facility for regeneration after drying the gas. In another embodiment, the regeneration of the desiccant is performed locally whereby the liquid desiccant is, after drying the gas, stripped again of water and reused locally.

Abstract: A method of installing a flexible line between an offshore platform and a subsea structure and a method of removing a flexible line deployed between an offshore platform and a subsea structure. The method of installing includes at least partially deploying the line in the water using an installation vessel located outside of an exclusion zone in the vicinity of the platform, including lowering a topside end of the line either to the seabed or to an intermediate location between the seabed and the platform. The method further includes pulling the topside end to a position within the exclusion zone and winching the topside end up to the platform, and coupling the topside end to the platform. The method of removing includes decoupling a topside end of the riser from the platform, lowering the topside end from the platform and pulling the topside end to a position outside of an exclusion zone in the vicinity of the platform, and at least partially removing the line from the water using an installation vessel located outside of the exclusion zone, including raising the topside end of the line onto the installation vessel either from the seabed or from an intermediate location between the seabed and the platform.

Abstract: A method of identifying a material and/or condition of a material in a borehole is described, together with related apparatus. The material may either be between first and second tubulars or between a first tubular and a wall of the borehole. The method may include providing a reference quality factor (Qreference) for one or more known materials in one or more known conditions and measuring a downhole quality factor (Qmeasured) of the material and/or material condition to be identified. A spectral ratio α=(Qmeasured/Qreference) may then be computed for one or more known materials under one or more known conditions followed by an analysis of the spectral ratios to identify the material and/or condition of the material in the borehole.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for automatically monitoring the liquid content in a gas, and in particular the gas leaving a scrubber and entering a compressor. In the method, a sample of fluid is taken from the outlet of the compressor, its temperature and pressure are automatically varied, and the pressure and temperature at which condensation forms is automatically detected. The pressure and temperature thus detected can be used to determine the liquid content in the gas. In a variant method, the temperature and pressure of the sample are automatically varied, and the rate of liquid condensation is measured to determine the liquid content. The invention also extends to a device for cooling a gas so that the liquid content of the gas can be determined, including a cooled housing with a cavity therein, and means for measuring the temperature and pressure within the cavity.
