摘要: A static casting method for a hollow cast product using a mold with bottom comprising a top lid, a core and an outer mold section, the core being attached to the top lid and disposed inside the outer mold section. The outer mold section includes a lateral mold section and a lower mold section. The lateral mold section is formed at its inner peripheral wall portion with a composite cooling section by stacking chiller blocks and interposing therebetween refractory sands and at its outer wall portion with refractory sands. Cooling pipes include first and second pipes. A first pipe extends longitudinally through the refractory sands at the outer wall portion and a second pipe extends longitudinally through the inner wall portion in contact with at least a part of each of the chiller blocks, the first and second pipes being connected at their lower portions through the bend portion. The chiller blocks are cooled by water flowing in the second pipes. The entire casting cavity is first filled with molten metal. Then cooling water is passed through the cooling pipes until solidification of the metal is complete. Thereafter the supply of water is stopped and water remaining in the pipes is discharged.

摘要: A nuclear reactor having a reactor vessel adapted to be supplied with a coolant, a reactor core disposed in the reactor vessel and including a plurality of fuel assemblies, a plurality of control rods adapted to be inserted into the reactor core and a plurality of control rod driving devices for driving the control rods into and out of the reactor core. A plurality of tubular coolant passage members are disposed above the fuel assemblies so as to receive the heated coolant discharged from the fuel assemblies, so that the heated coolant flows upwardly through the tubular coolant passage members. The tubular coolant passage members provide a chimney effect which enhances the upward flow of the coolant and, hence, increases the flow rate of coolant flowing through the reactor core. In consequence, a greater cooling effect is obtained and the range of power controllable by the control rods is widened. In consequence, the construction of the reactor is simplified and the size is decreased due to elimination of coolant recycling system in the reactor vessel.

摘要: A digital camera is provided with: a sub CPU started irrespective of a state of an SW group; and a main CPU and an HDMI-CPU which are started when the SW group is in an on state while stopped when the SW group is in an off state. The sub CPU repeatedly determines whether or not a wake-up command is issued from a digital television connected via an HDMI cable when the SW group is in the off state. Furthermore, the sub CPU changes the state of the SW group to the on state when a determination result relating to presence or absence of the wake-up command is updated from NO to YES. The HDMI-CPU and the main CPU that are started thereby execute a process according to a command issued from the digital television.

摘要: An optical multiplexer/demultiplexer including an arrayed waveguide grating having a plurality of waveguides and formed at its both end with an input-side slab waveguide and an output-side slab waveguide. A reference input waveguide and correction input waveguides are provided on the input end face of the input-side slab waveguide and a plurality of output waveguides are connected to the output end face of the output-side slab waveguide. The correction input waveguide has an output end face thereof placed apart by a distance from the input end face of the input-side slab waveguide in the lengthwise direction of the slab waveguide and has an acute angle to a plane perpendicular to the optical axis of this waveguide, thus permitting an optical signal to be input at a position apart from a light-incident position for the reference input waveguide by a distance shorter than a waveguide disposition interval, thereby optimally correcting a deviation of the center wavelength of the optical signal.

摘要: An optical waveguide component includes at least one main waveguide through which signal light and regenerating light propagate and a branch waveguide branching from the main waveguide, which are formed on the same substrate; a filter element disposed at a branch portion of these waveguides; and a plurality of reflecting elements having two reflecting faces, which are arranged in the extending direction of the branch waveguide. In the optical waveguide component, one reflecting face of the two reflecting faces is a face for reflecting the regenerating light to the filter element, and the other face is a face for reflecting the regenerating light to the direction deviating from the light axis direction of the branch waveguide, or the intervals between the reflecting elements are different from each other. This optical waveguide component enables the time-series signal processing of regenerating light to be performed accurately.

摘要: An optical coupler/splitter having an optical waveguide on the side of light incidence, two optical waveguides on the branched side, branched from the former optical waveguide and each having straight and curved sections, and a dielectric multi-layer film filter provided in a manner crossing the latter waveguides and common to them. The filter is so formed as to intersect with a straight section of one waveguide and with a curved section of the other, so that respective crossing angles between the filter and the branched optical waveguides differ from each other, thereby providing different reflection or transmission characteristics with respect to the branched optical waveguides. An optical signal having a variable wavelength and issued from a measuring apparatus based on the backscattering method is distinguished by the common filter of the coupler/splitter, making it possible to perform measurement of the losses of the branched optical waveguides independently without being affected by interference light. There is no need to provide a plurality of filters having different characteristics, and thus the coupler/splitter has a simplified structure and excellent productivity.
