Abstract:
As per the World Health organization (WHO) requirement, the water for drinking purposes should be 100% virus free. This invention reports a polymer impregnated porous substrate membrane and method for the preparation of said membrane for capturing viruses from water. The water filtered through the membrane prepared by the process of the present invention has been tested to be virus free and fully potable based on the tests carried out at the Department of Microbiology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India and Sriram Institute for Industrial Research (an ISO 9001 R&D Organization), New Delhi, India. The invention will be of immense use especially for the developing countries and third world countries which are subjected to the problem of unsafe drinking water. This invention is useful also for the developed countries for use in water treatment plants due to highly industrialized nature and existence of a variety of manufacturing units like chemicals and fertilizers.

In one embodiment, a device geo-location method is disclosed, comprising: receiving one or more wireless signal strengths associated with connectivity of a user device to one or more wireless access points; calculating, via a processor, one or more distances of the user device from the one or more wireless access points using the one or more wireless signal strengths; triangulating a user device location coordinate using: a pre-determined wireless access point location coordinate associated with at least one of the one or more wireless access points; and the calculated one or more distances of the user device from the one or more wireless access points; and storing the user device location coordinate.
Abstract:
A diode is defined on a die. The diode includes a substrate of P conductivity having an upper surface and a lower surface, the substrate having first and second ends corresponding to first and second edges of the die. An anode contacts the lower surface of the substrate. A layer of N conductivity is provided on the upper surface of the substrate, the layer having an upper surface and a lower surface. A doped region of N conductivity is formed at an upper portion of the layer. A cathode contacts the doped region. A passivation layer is provided on the upper surface of the layer and proximate to the cathode.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to methods and systems for improving customer experience through real time troubleshooting in relation to customer experience management. In one embodiment, a proactive customer experience management method is disclosed, comprising: obtaining a performance-indicating alert (PA); identifying relevant alerts from the alert database in absence of possible fault condition from the PA; determining a possible problem condition from the PA and identified relevant alerts; raising trace trigger for gathering relevant trace data; determining specific problem condition and relevant cause, based on gathered trace data and relevant data from PM/FM, CDR, OSS systems; determining appropriate recommendation for resolution of the determined specific problem condition; updating a user interface dashboard using the determination of the root cause of the possible problem and the recommendation for resolution of the possible problem; and updating new knowledge into a knowledge base with problem-context, resolution, relevant adjustments to alerts, thresholds and rules.
Abstract:
Disclosed are apparatus and methodology for providing remote system upgrades to utility meters in certain regulatory environments. A utility meter having a metrology section and a registry portion is provided with additional memory in the metrology section, and configured as the primary storage location for billing information. The metrology section is configured for remote upgrade of firmware associated with automatic meter reading (AMR) functions in a manner that maintains the integrity of stored billing material despite any failed upgrade of the associated AMR device or functionality
Abstract:
For use with a power plant having a rectifier and a backup battery coupled to a variable load, a system for, and method of, assessing a capacity of the backup battery. In one embodiment, the system includes: (1) a controller, coupled to the rectifier, that controls an output current of the rectifier to maintain a discharge current of the backup battery at a substantially constant level and (2) a voltage sensor, coupled to the backup battery, that measures a voltage of the backup battery.
Abstract:
For use with a reserve battery couplable to a charging circuit capable of providing a charging current to the reserve battery, a mode selection circuit and a method of operation thereof. The mode selection circuit includes, in one embodiment, (1) a signal generator that generates a signal based on a temperature of the reserve battery and (2) a mode-changing circuit, coupled to the signal generator, that accepts the signal and selects an alternative one of: (a) a non-charge mode in which the charging current is substantially interrupted when the temperature is greater than a reference temperature and (b) a charge mode in which the charging current is provided to the reserve battery when the temperature is less than the reference temperature.
Abstract:
A power device (such as a power diode) has a peripheral die area and a central area. The main PN junction of the device is formed by a P+ type region that extends down into an N− type layer. The central portion of the P+ type region has a plurality of openings so mesa structures of the underlying N− type material extend up to the semiconductor surface through the openings. Due to the mesa structures being located in the central portion of the die, there are vertically extending extensions of the PN junction in the central portion of the die. Minority carrier charge storage is more uniform per unit area across the surface of the die. Due to the form of the P+ type region and the mesa structures, the reverse recovery of the PN junction exhibits a soft characteristic.
