摘要: A scanning system enables efficient and selective downloading of files. A scanning mechanism associated with the scanning system captures images of documents. Then, a translator analyzes the captured images to produce data files. When desired, a system controller of the scanning system transmits sufficient data from the data files such that thumbnail images of the data files can be produced. After viewing the thumbnail images, a user selects one of the data files, and the system controller transmits or downloads the selected data file in response. The selected data file can be transmitted to a computer system, which renders the selected data file to a user, or the selected data file can be transmitted directly to a printer, which prints an image of the selected data file.

摘要: The switching transistors in multiple switching regulators sharing the same input power source are coordinated to lower the peak current drain on the input power source. The turn on times of the transistors in each regulator are set so that each switching transistor turns on at a predetermined time in a cycle. The predetermined time for each regulator is chosen so that the maximum peak current drain on the input power source is minimized. The predetermined times may be changed on-the-fly by inputs to the system when information about current or projected output loads are known. The transistors in each regulator may also be turned on when the transistor in the previous regulator in a sequence turns off. Another embodiment lets the regulator with the largest change in input current over a cycle run independently. The other regulators then switch in a designated order, or at designated times after the first regulator turns its switch off.

摘要: Pixels in an array of image sensor pixels contain photo-sensors. In response to illumination of a photo-sensor, an initial signal is generated. Multiple comparison signals are also generated based on the initial signal. One of the comparison signals remains internal to the pixel, and other comparison signals are transmitted to neighboring pixels. Within a pixel, the internal comparison signal is compared to a sum of comparison signals received from neighboring pixels. Based on the comparison, a data value may be latched and used for indicating a relative difference in pixel illumination.
