Abstract:
In order to facilitate cellular device-to-device communication, a cross-layer optimization functionality, utilizing for example monitoring capabilities of a MAC layer entity, and adjustment capabilities of an application control entity, is introduced.
Abstract:
The present invention proposes an apparatus which comprises a communication module configured for communication in a carrier aggregation mode aggregating a primary and at least one secondary carrier, a measurement module, and a control module, configured to retrieve measurement information pertaining to a measurement to be conducted of at least one secondary carrier associated to the primary carrier in the carrier aggregation mode, and instruct the measurement module to conduct a measurement of the at least one secondary carrier based on the measurement information, determine, based on a measurement result, an extent to which the measured secondary carrier is usable for transmission. Also, a corresponding method and computer program product is proposed.
Abstract:
A method for providing improved wireless connectivity for wireless devices operating in a heterogeneous multi-RAT environment may include receiving, at a network device, information indicative of one or more radio access technologies detected by a user equipment (UE) in corresponding locations where the received information is received in connection with a session initiation protocol (SIP) procedure, and causing provision of the received information to an access network discovery and selection function (ANDSF). A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an apparatus, a method and a computer program for resolving a hidden node problem in relation to handshake message transferring e.g. in WLAN networks. In one embodiment of the invention, the apparatus receiving a Clear to Send (CTS) message repeats the message after a Short Interframe Space (SIFS) time period. Stations not directly hearing the original CTS due to a low power are able to receive the repeated CTS and defer their transmissions accordingly. In another embodiment, the apparatus receiving the CTS message indicates in its Ready to Send (RTS) message that the CTS sender station has a low transmitting power. With this knowledge, the other present stations can defer their transmissions until they are sure that the data transfer between the first two stations having the RTS-CTS messaging has not been initiated or is already completed.
Abstract:
There are provided measures for channel access control. Such measures may exemplarily include obtaining a contention window assignment including at least an assignment of a size of a contention window for contention-based channel access, accessing at least one logical channel in a contention-based manner according to the contention window assignment, including allocating resources to the at least one logical channel for data transmission, and modifying the size of the contention window based on a result of the resource allocation in terms of an aggregated bit rate allocated for data transmission and an aggregate target bit rate requirement of prioritized bit rates of the at least one logical channel.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and computer program for controlling device-to-device connections and associated quality-of-service parameters are presented. The quality-of-service parameters of an end-to-end connection through a plurality of different radio access networks are aligned in connection with changing a communication mode to a direct device-to-device connection.
Abstract:
The present invention proposes methods and devices for mobile communication deployed on shared bands, which enhance reliability of channels such as control channels. According to an aspect thereof, at a communication terminal, a list of channels useable for communication is maintained, information on the usability of a currently used channel is obtained, and it is switched to one of the channels of the list of useable channels if the currently used channel becomes unusable. The invention encompasses also corresponding computer products as well as methods, devices and computer products residing at a network node.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for reliably paging a mobile terminal in the idle mode, even in an instance in which the mobile terminal is subjected to interference from a CSG cell. In this regard, a method is provided that includes causing an indication of an inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC) paging period to be provided to the mobile terminal. The indication of the ICIC paging period includes an ICIC paging period TICIC and a number NABS of consecutive almost blank subframes (ABS) subframes in which a paging message is to be expected. The method also determines, for a respective ICIC paging period, the NABS nearest ABS subframes of the CSG cell relative to a paging occasion (PO) subframe of the mobile terminal. A paging message is also provided to the mobile terminal in one of the NABS nearest ABS subframes of the CSG cell.
Abstract:
There is provided a mechanism for controlling a transmission of data in a fragmentation transmission mode. When fragments are transmitted in a fragmentation transmission mode, it is determined whether the fragment frame is received successfully or whether an acknowledgment message for confirming a successful transmission of the fragment frame is received. In case the acknowledgment for the successful transmission of the one fragment frame is not received, or the fragment is frame is not successfully received, the fragmentation transmission mode is maintained and a retransmission of the fragment frame is initiated.
Abstract:
There is provided a mechanism for reporting buffer status information to a communication network control element when transmission via both a licensed and an unlicensed spectrum is conducted and offloading of traffic is executed. After an offloading value indicating the amount of traffic which can be offloaded from a transmission over a licensed spectrum to a transmission over an unlicensed spectrum is estimated, the UE determines a buffer size of at least one transmission buffer used in a transmission over the licensed spectrum and the unlicensed spectrum. Then, buffer status information is sent to the eNB wherein the estimated offloading value is considered. The eNB can then allocate resources for the transmission over the licensed band while benefits by the offloading to the unlicensed band are considered in the resource allocation.
