Abstract:
In a batch type vertical heat-treating method, first, product wafers and dummy wafers are set to be stacked on an upstream side of a flow of a process gas, in heat treatment, within main holding positions of a holder. The dummy substrates are set more downstream of the process gas than the product wafers. The product wafers and the dummy wafers are set in the holder in a total number smaller than a total number of the main holding positions corresponding to a maximum number of wafers that can be held by the holder, and the holder is in a partially loaded state. The partially loaded holder is loaded in a process vessel, and the product wafers are processed in the process vessel.
Abstract:
Material characteristics that a foamed filler material (s) to be filled in a frame cross section (fr) should have are discussed. By using a material complying with the characteristics, the energy absorbability of the frame (fr) is effectively enhanced. In a frame structure (fr) for vehicle bodies in which a filler material is filled in at least part of the cross section of a frame, the filler material is set to a mean compressive strength of not less than 4 MPa and/or a maximum bending strength of not less than 10 MPa. More particularly, the filler material is set to a mean compressive strength of not less than 5 MPa and/or a maximum bending strength of 60 MPa.
Abstract:
An automatic lighting system comprises a bypass circuit bypassing a manual lighting switch. During operation in an automatic lighting mode, headlamps and a clearance lamp of the automobile automatically turn on when the engine operation becomes stable upon completion of start-up operation. The stability in operation of the bypass circuit in the automatic lighting mode is increased by the provision of a delay circuit via which a voltage appearing at an alternator driven by the engine is applied to a base of a transistor that is used to close and open the bypass circuit. Closing a cranking motor switch to activate a cranking motor causes the bypass circuit to be inoperable so that the headlamps and clearance lamp will not turn on during engine cranking.
Abstract:
A seam welder with wire electrodes inserted between upper and lower roller electrodes to weld an overlap section of a cylinderical body formed of metal plate between the electrodes. The power supply for the welder includes a rectifying circuit for obtaining a dc voltage from an ac current source, a smoothing circuit for smoothing the dc voltage, a single converting circuit to convert the smoothed dc voltage into an alternating polarity pulse voltage, a transformer for applying this pulse voltage to the upper and lower electrodes and a capacitor connected between the primary side of the transformer and the output side of the converting circuit with a capacitance that produces resonance with the inductance of the transformer primary at the pulse voltage frequency.
Abstract:
An apparatus, for retaining a sash in a desired open position in a projected window, comprises at least one retaining unit adapted to be mounted on an outer frame, and at least one transforming unit adapted to be mounted within an inner frame. The retaining unit includes a tube-like member adapted to be pivotally connected to the outer frame, and a rod turnably and telescopically received in the tube-like member. The transforming unit is operatively connected to a handle (on the inner frame) and the rod for, in response to angular movement of the handle, turning the rod between a first position in which the rod is prevented from being longitudinally or axially moved relative to the tube-like member and a second position in which the rod is allowed to be longitudinally or axially moved relative to the tube-like member.
Abstract:
An exterior window unit is adapted to cover an opening in a building wall. An adapter sill member has a vertical and a horizontal section adapted to be secured, respectively, to an exterior vertical and a horizontal top surface of a fixed sill in the building wall, the adapter sill member having a first engaging means extending along its lower edge. A frame sill of the unit has a mounting means having a vertical and a horizontal portion adapted to be secured, respectively, to the vertical and horizontal sections of the adapter sill member, the frame sill having a second mounting means having a second engaging means which engages the first engaging means.
Abstract:
A paneled door construction comprises a pair of first and second stiles, top and bottom rails connecting the stiles together, a muntin extending vertically between the top and bottom rails, and a pair of block assemblies disposed between the first stile and the muntin, and between the second stile and the muntin, respectively. The block assemblies each include a pair of inner stiles spaced apart horizontally from each other and extending vertically between the top and bottom rails, and alternate blocks and block-parting members sandwiched between the inner stiles. The blocks and block-parting members are attached by screws to the inner stiles by bringing the former into contact with the inner stiles, and then threading said screws into the blocks and the block-parting members through the inner stiles.
Abstract:
Traffic situation determination systems, methods, and programs acquire a current position of the vehicle based on a radio signal received from a GPS satellite and determine a first travel path of the vehicle based on the acquired position of the vehicle. The systems, methods, and programs determine whether a road on which the vehicle is traveling has a traffic jam. If the road on which the vehicle is traveling has a traffic jam, the systems, methods and programs transmit first information relating to the first travel path from the vehicle to an information center. The systems, methods, and programs receive second information relating to a second travel path of the vehicle, the second information being received from a mobile phone communication center and being based on a mobile phone signal received by the mobile phone communication center. The systems, methods, and programs determine a road corresponding to the first travel path as having a traffic jam and determine a road corresponding to the second travel path, and not corresponding to the first travel path, as having no traffic jam.
Abstract:
A measured antenna and a measuring antenna are placed inside a radio anechoic container. On the basis of an aperture size D of the measured antenna, an aperture size d of the measuring antenna, and a wavelength λ of a measurement frequency, a distance L between the measured antenna and the measuring antenna is set to a value in the range of (D+d)2/(2λ) to 2(D+d)2/λ. Thus, in the Fresnel region where the distance L is short, antenna characteristics of the measured antenna substantially the same as those in the Fraunhofer region where the distance L is long can be measured.
Abstract:
Responsive to braking, a CPU of a driving assist apparatus calculates an average deceleration of the vehicle and then calculates a braking distance. The CPU further calculates a final position at which the vehicle will come to a stop, on the basis of the braking distance. The CPU next activates an assist display for display a map including, superimposed thereon, the route to the final position and an arrival indicator indicating the stop (final) position of the vehicle.
