Abstract: Methods and kits for removing calculus from a tooth, wherein the method can include applying a component A to the tooth, wherein component A comprises: a metal ion selected from the group of lithium ion, magnesium ion, calcium ion, a precursor thereto, and a combination thereof; and an aprotic base having a pKb in water of greater than 15.4, or a precursor thereto; applying a component B to the tooth, wherein component B comprises a bicarbonate ion or a precursor thereto; wherein components A and B are applied simultaneously or sequentially to the tooth, thereby generating a gas to soften and/or loosen at least part of the calculus on the tooth; and removing at least a part of the calculus from the tooth.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are aqueous dental coating compositions and methods for enhancing contrast of intraoral surfaces for 3-dimensional digital scanning. The compositions include: an aqueous solvent system; a water soluble polymer present at no greater than 5 wt. %, based on the total weight of the aqueous dental coating composition; hydrophilic particles; and hydrophobic particles, wherein the aqueous dental coating composition is a dispersion or a dispersion of the hydrophilic particles and hydrophobic particles in the aqueous solvent system can be formed by shaking the composition for 30 seconds.

Abstract: A method of making a polymer network. The method includes providing a composition including a polythiol having more than one thiol group and a polyepoxide having more than one epoxide group, applying a solution including a photolatent base catalyst to a surface of the composition, and subsequently exposing the composition to light. Upon exposure to light, the photolatent base catalyst photochemically generates a first amine and at least partially cures at least the surface of the composition to form the polymer network.

Methods of utilizing disclosed compositions are also included.
