Embodiments provide methods, computer programs and apparatuses 10, 30 for a base station transceiver 100 and a relay station transceiver 300 in a mobile communication network 400, which comprises the base station transceiver 100, a mobile transceiver 200 being associated with the base station transceiver 100 and a relay transceiver 300 being associated with the base station transceiver 100. The base station transceiver apparatus comprises a receiver 12 for receiving information on a handover request from the mobile transceiver 200, the information on the handover request indicating that the mobile transceiver 200 is in a situation in which a reception quality of the signals of the relay transceiver 300 would allow a re-association of the mobile transceiver 200 to the relay transceiver 300. The base station transceiver apparatus 10 further comprises a scheduler 14 for scheduling, subsequent to the reception of the handover request, the mobile transceiver 200 for transmission from the base station transceiver 100 to the mobile transceiver 200 on a radio resource on which transmission of the relay transceiver 300 is suspended. The apparatus 30 for the relay transceiver comprises a reception unit 32 for receiving information on a resource assignment from the base station transceiver 100 and a scheduling unit 34 for scheduling the mobile transceiver 220 for transmission or reception on a radio resource which is indicated in the information on the resource assignment.

The embodiments of the invention relate to a method for operating a first base station (BS1) in a radio communication system (RAN). The method contains transmitting first reference signals via a first radiation beam (BM1-BS1) being directed towards a first direction and at least second reference signals via at least one second radiation beam (BM2-BS1, . . . , BM5-BS1) being directed towards at least one second direction. The method further contains receiving for a hand over of a mobile station (MS) from a second base station (BS2) being a serving base station of the mobile station (MS) to the first base station (BS1) an indication for a radiation beam being selected from a group of radiation beams comprising the first radiation beam (BM1-BS1) and the at least one second radiation beam (BM2-BS1, . . . , BM5-BS1) for applying the selected radiation beam as an initial radiation beam at the first base station (BS1) for serving the mobile station (MS). The method even further contains scheduling radio resources for the initial radiation beam for serving the mobile station (MS) based on the indication. The embodiments of the invention relate to a method for operating a mobile station (MS) in a radio communication system (RAN). The method contains receiving first radio resource information for a transmission of first reference signals via a first radiation beam (BM1-BS1) being directed towards a first direction by at least one neighboring base station (BS1) of a serving base station (BS2) of the mobile station (MS) and at least second radio resource information for a transmission of at least second reference signals via at least one second radiation beam (BM2-BS1, . . . BM5-BS1) being directed towards at least one second direction by the at least one neighboring base station (BS1). The method further contains receiving the first reference signals based on the first radio resource information, receiving the at least second reference signals based on the at least second radio resource information, determining first quality information of the first radiation beam (BM1-BS1) based on the received first reference signals and at least second quality information of the at least second radiation beam (BM2-BS1, . . . The other base station transceiver (200) is operable to transmit radio signals in a repetitive sequence of radio frames, wherein in at least one of the radio frames in the sequence the other base station transceiver (200) is operable to transmit with a reduced transmission power or to suspend transmission compared to at least one other of the radio frames in the sequence. The apparatus (10) comprises an interface (12) operable to receive sequence information on the at least one of the radio frames in the sequence, during which the other base station transceiver (200) is operable to transmit with the reduced transmission power or to suspend transmission compared to the at least one other of the radio frames in the sequence.
