摘要: A method and apparatus for determining contexts of information analyzed. Contexts may be determined for words, expressions, and other combinations of words in bodies of knowledge such as encyclopedias. Analysis of use provides a division of the universe of communication or information into domains, and selects words or expressions unique to those domains of subject matter as an aid in classifying information. A vocabulary list is created with a macro-context (context vector) for each, dependent upon the number of occurrences of unique terms from a domain, over each of the domains. This system may be used to find information or classify information by subsequent inputs of text, in calculation of macro-contexts, with ultimate determination of lists of micro-contests including terms closely aligned with the subject matter.

摘要: A system and method is disclosed to provide data services to subscribers who are remotely located from a central office (e.g. greater than about 16,000 ft). A remote service area interface (“SAI”) is placed proximate to the remote subscribers and the SAI facilitates long distance communications. The SAI has a first interface that can be connected to numerous subscribers and a second interface that can be connected to a central office. The system and method can effectively provide services utilizing existing telephone lines between the subscribers and the central office. The SAI can also receive power over existing telephone lines from the central office.

摘要: The invention provides a flotation device including a thickening tank (1) having right cylindrical sidewalls and a downwardly sloping frusto-conical floor. A drive shaft (2) is centrally rotatably mounted within the tank. Each one of a plurality of rake arms (3) is fixedly connected to the drive shaft and extends radially outwardly, substantially parallel to the tank floor. Each arm supports an array of blades (4) extending axially into the tank. An array of baffles in the form of rectilinear baffle plates (5), fixed relative to the tank, extends axially into the tank in complementary alternate radially spaced relationship with the blades (4). The baffle plates are located within the swept volume of the blades to retard fluid rotation in response to the rotation of the rake. A diametrical service bridge (6) is fixedly connected to the tank for mounting the baffle plates.

摘要: Timing errors in digital transmission systems, such as maximum time interval error, are measured with data samples processed in a first stage to produce in real-time a first, time-varying series of measurements for a given parameter over observation intervals of a first magnitude. Each observation interval is many times longer than the sample period of the input series. Subsequent stages derive further measurements, corresponding to increasingly longer observation intervals, derived by treating previous observation intervals as sub-intervals. The first stage derives intermediate results for a predetermined interval and repeats for successive sub-intervals. The intermediate results are stored in a first first-in, first-out (FIFO) data set and updated at least once per sub-interval and the required parameter is derived. The second and subsequent stages similarly derive the required parameter corresponding to increasing observation interval magnitudes and update the measurements as data sets update.

摘要: A high capacity marine separator (30) is disclosed which uses a first stage formed by an inertial vane separator (32), a second stage formed by a coalescer stage (36) and a third stage formed by an inertial vane separator (34). The coalescer stage (36) is canted from vertical relative to the air flow direction which increases the surface area for air flow, increases the drainage rate of water from the coalescer section and provides an improved air flow distribution to the second inertial vane separator with higher velocities near the top of the second inertial vane separator. The inertial vane separators (32, 34) have flush cavities to reduce obstruction to air flow and have vanes that are greater than three inches in wavelength and spaced greater than one inch apart. The marine separator is capable of flow velocities of 50 standard feet per second.
