摘要: Methods for measuring retinal damage resulting from an injury include calculating the slope of retinal thickness from the injury site to the periphery of the site. A shallower slope of retinal thickness correlates with a greater degree of damage resulting from the injury. The methods may also be useful to screen pharmaceuticals for potential neuroprotective effects against retinal injuries.

摘要: A method for welding ocular tissues to each other including providing a first portion of ocular tissue having a leading edge and a second portion of ocular tissue having a leading edge, positioning the leading edge of the first portion of ocular tissue directly adjacent to and against the leading edge of the second portion of ocular tissue, and applying pulses of a laser light from a source thereof substantially simultaneously to the leading edge of the first portion of ocular tissue and to the leading edge of the second portion of ocular tissue, the pulses of the laser light penetrating the portions of ocular tissue to a depth of approximately 1-300 microns so that the leading edge of the first portion of ocular tissue may be securely welded to the leading edge of the second portion of ocular tissue, the laser light having a wavelength of approximately 10.6 microns and a power output level sufficient to maintain the portions of ocular tissue at a temperature of approximately 45-60 degrees Celsius during the applying of the laser light.

摘要: A system and method are presented for use in monitoring one or more conditions of a subject's body. The system includes a control unit which includes an input port for receiving image data, a memory utility, and a processor utility. The image data is indicative of data measured by a pixel detector array and is in the form of a sequence of speckle patterns generated by a portion of the subject's body in response to illumination thereof by coherent light according to a certain sampling time pattern. The memory utility stores one or more predetermined models, the model comprising data indicative of a relation between one or more measurable parameters and one or more conditions of the subject's body. The processor utility is configured and operable for processing the image data to determine one or more corresponding body conditions; and generating output data indicative of the corresponding body conditions.
