    Abstract: A catheter system including an insertion device and a catheter device. The insertion device includes a housing, a latch, a needle for insertion into a patient; and a spring. The catheter device includes a housing comprising a chamber, and a seal disposed in said chamber. The seal is configured to reseal when the needle is withdrawn from the seal such that blood is sealed in the chamber. The spring relaxes and thereby retracts the needle entirely into the housing of the insertion device when the latch decouples from the catheter device.

    Abstract: Drip chambers are described herein. A drip chamber comprises an inlet, an outlet, and a chamber body. The chamber body defines a chamber volume in fluid communication with the inlet and the outlet. The chamber body is movable between a collapsed configuration having a first volume and an expanded configuration having a second volume. The second volume is larger than the first volume, and the chamber body is configured to be moved from the collapsed configuration to the expanded configuration to draw in a medical fluid from the inlet into the chamber volume to prime the drip chamber.

    Abstract: A connector assembly including a body portion defining a cavity and a luer portion extending in the cavity, a proximal connector disposed at least partially in the cavity of the body portion, a distal connector slidably coupled to the body portion, and a compressible valve member mounted in a cavity of the proximal connector. The distal connector including first and second arms hingedly or pivotably coupled to each other. The valve member may have an internal chamber and a slit extending from a distal end portion of the valve member into the internal chamber. When the distal connector is coupled to a mating connector, the valve member is compressed and the slit is opened such that a fluid path extending from the inlet port through the internal chamber to the outlet port of the luer portion is opened to fluidly communicate the proximal connector with the mating connector.

    Abstract: Syringes are described herein. A syringe includes a syringe body, a first plunger, a biasing member, and a priming indicator. The syringe body defines a syringe cavity, a syringe port, and an indicator window, wherein the syringe port is in fluid communication with the syringe cavity. The first plunger comprises a first plunger shaft extending from the first plunger, the first plunger disposed within the syringe cavity and defining a first chamber in the syringe cavity, wherein the first chamber is in fluid communication with the syringe port.     Abstract: A dual check valve includes an upper housing, an intermediate housing, and a lower housing, and a first valve seat. The intermediate housing is coupled to the upper housing to define a first cavity, and includes a second valve seat. The lower housing is coupled to the intermediate housing to define a second cavity. A first disk is mounted in the first cavity and configured to selectively contact the first valve seat. A second disk is mounted in the second cavity and configured to selectively contact the second valve seat. When the dual check valve is in an open state, the first disk deflects away from the first valve seat to create a first gap, and the second disk deflects away from the second valve seat to create a second.     Abstract: A drip chamber is described that is used in medical infusion therapy, wherein the drip chamber utilizes valving to control flow of one or more fluids to a patient. The drip chamber includes a body forming a chamber, wherein fluid may enter via two or more flow ports, and an output port, where fluid may exit the chamber. A float controls fluid flow through one or more flow ports into the chamber such that the flow exiting the chamber may be limited to a single fluid or a combination of the fluids entering the chamber. The float is configured to be retained within the chamber, and the float moves within the chamber based on a level of fluid within the chamber. The control characteristics of the float are determinable by attributing specific buoyancy and dimensions to the float.

    Abstract: A check valve includes a housing that includes an inlet port, an outlet port, and a valve chamber. The inlet port extends from a ceiling of the valve chamber to an outer surface of the housing. The outlet port extends from a floor of the valve chamber to the outer surface of the housing. The check valve further includes a valve member supported within the chamber. The valve includes a valve head. When an upstream pressure is applied to the valve, the valve head is configured to deflect away from the ceiling of the valve chamber and unseal the inlet port. When a downstream pressure is applied to the valve, the valve head is configured to deflect away from the floor of the valve chamber and seal the inlet port such that the valve head conforms to a shape of the ceiling of the valve chamber.
