Abstract: In a further aspect, a method of operating a wireless access node connected to one or more wireless user devices is disclosed. In one embodiment, the wireless access node is connected to the one or more wireless user devices through a first frequency channel located in an unlicensed spectrum, and the wireless access node is a 3GPP NR gNB including an enhanced central unit (CUe) and/or at least one enhanced distributed unit (DUe) connected to the central unit. In one variant, the method includes: performing interference (e.g., radar) detection in the first frequency channel using the wireless access node; based on detection of interference, selecting at least one second frequency; and sending instructions to the one or more wireless user devices from the wireless access node, the instructions configured to make the one or more wireless user devices switch to the at least one second frequency. In one implementation, the at least one second frequency includes a plurality of different frequencies.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for improving throughput and reliability in a wireless network. In one embodiment, the apparatus and methods provide mechanisms for wireless user device buffer management that mitigate buffer overflow within the device due to overscheduling, such as from different networks with which the device is connected simultaneously. In one variant, a 3GPP-based signaling architecture from wireless device to the multiple networks is provided to enable user device-controlled management buffer overflow. In another variant, potentially buffer-demanding (e.g., HARQ) process management and prioritization rules are defined to avoid buffer overflow. In other variant, buffer size computation is provided considering the number of networks to which the wireless user device can connect.

Abstract: A network control device, e.g., a gNB, receives a message from a communications device, e.g. a UE, indicating that the communications device is experiencing an in-device coexistence (IDC) problem, e.g. in the 52.6 GHz-71 GHz frequency range with respect to NR-U and WiGig. The message is one of: i) an IDC assistance message indicating that the victim system is Wi-Gig or ii) an antenna panel switch message requesting that the network control device instruct the communications device to change the antenna panel that it uses for uplink NR signaling. The network control device generates and sends a response message to the communications device including: a selected new frequency to be used by the communications device for uplink NR signaling or a selected different antenna panel to be used by the communications device for uplink NR signaling. The communications device implements the change reducing or avoiding the IDC problem.

Abstract: Methods and/or apparatus for reducing or avoiding (IDC) in-device coexistence problems in devices which support multiple communications protocols, e.g., WiFi and LTE, are described. In various embodiments a WiFi AP can request or require devices, e.g., STAs to report IDC information pertinent to the individual device. This is done by sending one or more trigger frames, e.g., as part of a multicast or unicast operation. Alternatively, devices can voluntarily report IDC information. The AP, e.g., WiFi AP, takes the IDC information it receives, e.g., from multiple devices, e.g., STAs, into account when scheduling UL resources to be used by the wireless devices. By taking into consideration the IDC information provided by STAs, IDC conflicts can be avoid even though a WiFi AP is scheduling resources for WiFi communication in devices which are also using resources for another communications standard, e.g., LTE, over which the AP does not have control.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for supporting wireless medium sharing in wireless communications systems, e.g., various 802.11 wireless communications systems, are described. A novel shared transmission type of trigger frame is implemented, which allows a wireless station, acting as a host station, to make available transmission resources, which have been acquired by the wireless station, to one or more guest stations. A shared transmission type of trigger frame, generated and transmitted by the host station communicates information identifying the attributes of a corresponding trigger based (TB) frame, information identifying resources of the TB frame to be used by the host station and information identifying one or more set of shared resources which may be used by guest station(s). The trigger based (TB) frame, corresponding to the transmitted shared transmission type trigger frame, is used by the host station and one or more guest stations to transmit data to an access point.
