    Abstract: The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a solar module with a bimetal breaker, which comprises a solar module with terminal ribbons deposited on both sides of the solar module and inter-connecting ribbons extended and connected to the terminal ribbons, and a bimetal breaker being deposited on a joint of the terminal ribbon and the inter-connecting ribbon of the solar module. The bimetal breaker comprises a bimetal unit that is composed of two metal layers, and when the bimetal unit is heated, the bimetal unit will bend because of different thermal expansion coefficients and push the conducting terminals to separate from each other, so as to prevent the solar module from being damaged due to high temperature.

    Abstract: Epigenetic events such as DNA methylation play important roles in the regulation of gene expression. DNA methylation patterns have been found to differ between healthy and diseased tissue, such as healthy and cancerous tissue, thereby allowing DNA methylation to serve as a biomarker for disease states. Embodiments of the invention provide methods for detecting methylation patterns in DNA polymers. Methylation patterns are detected, in part, through the use of surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). SERS provides a sensitive structure-based technique for chemical analysis.

    Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for managing access command transmitted to a storage controller during the period that a device coupled to the storage controller is undergoing a firmware update. The storage controller manages access commands directed to the storage controller so that the access command may be managed in a manner that does not disrupt the firmware update processor or the completion of the access command itself. The storage controller enters a guard mode in which the firmware of the storage controller intercepts commands directed to the device undergoing a firmware update. Depending on the characteristics of the access command, the data of the command may be generated from other drives in a redundant drive array or the command may be saved to a cache or journal for later processing.

    Abstract: A piezoelectric actuator is disclosed including an annular piezoelectric element and a base. There is a gap along the radial direction of the annular piezoelectric element. One of the two ends, i.e., the fixed end of the said annular element, is connected to the base, while the other end is free. The base is made of piezoelectric materials. Furthermore, the annular element is divided into two or more annular parts along the direction of its circumference by the electrode patterns applied on its two opposite surface and/or its polarization directions. When driving voltages are applied, the actuator can generate roughly a rotary motion around the center of the annular piezoelectric element.     Abstract: An embodiment of the invention relates to a device for detecting an analyte in a sample. The device comprises a fluidic network and an integrated circuitry component. The fluidic network comprises a sample zone, a cleaning zone and a detection zone. The fluidic network contains a magnetic particle and/or a signal particle. A sample containing an analyte is introduced, and the analyte interacts with the magnetic particle and/or the signal particle through affinity agents. A microcoil array or a mechanically movable permanent magnet is functionally coupled to the fluidic network, which are activatable to generate a magnetic field within a portion of the fluidic network, and move the magnetic particle from the sample zone to the detection zone.
