    Abstract: Driver circuitry for driving a load based on an input signal, comprising: at least one variable boost stage comprising: first and second input nodes configured to receive a first voltage and a second voltage respectively; first and second flying capacitor nodes for connection to a flying capacitor therebetween; a network of switching paths for selectively connecting the first and second input nodes with the first and second flying capacitor nodes; an output stage for selectively connecting a driver output node to each of the first and second flying capacitor nodes; and a controller operable in a first boost mode to: control the output stage to selectively connect the driver output node to the first flying capacitor node; control the network of switching paths to switch connection of the second flying capacitor node between the first and second input nodes at a controlled duty cycle; and in a first charge top-up cycle, control the network of switching paths to connect the first input node to the first flying capacitor node during a phase of the controlled duty cycle in which the first input node is connected to the second flying capacitor node; wherein the frequency of the controlled duty cycle is a greater than the frequency of the charge top-up cycle.

    Abstract: An audio output system for energizing a multiple voice coil transducer supplies at least two power output signals to the voice coils, a pilot tone generator for generating a pilot tone signal, and a power output circuit. The power output circuit generates power output signals from the pilot tone and the input signal so that the voice coils respond to the input signal with an in-phase electro-mechanical relationship and respond to the pilot tone with an out-of-phase (motion canceling) electro-mechanical relationship, reducing the effect of the pilot town on mechanical movement of the voice coil. A sensing circuit senses electrical signal values at terminals of the at least two voice coils, and a processing circuit detects a response of the output transducer to the pilot tone and determines at least one operating characteristic of the output transducer from the electrical signal values.

    Abstract: A method may include forming an inductor comprising a plurality of inductor coils comprising a plurality of first inductor coils and a plurality of second inductor coils, each inductor coil comprising a spiraling wire of electrically-conductive material wherein the wire of electrically-conductive material is arranged substantially in a plane, wherein the plurality of first inductor coils and the plurality of second inductor coils are electrically coupled to one another and arranged with respect to one another such that within the plane, electrical current flowing through the inductor flows clockwise in the first inductor coils, within the plane, electrical current flowing through the inductor flows counterclockwise in the second inductor coils, each first inductor coil is adjacent to at least one second inductor coil, and each second inductor coil is adjacent to at least one first inductor coil.

    Abstract: The application describes a switched driver (401) for outputting a drive signal at an output node (402) to drive a load such as a transducer. The driver receives respective high-side and low-side voltages (VinH, VinL) defining an input voltage at first and second input nodes and has connections for first and second capacitors (403H, 403L). A network of switching paths is configured such that each of the first and second capacitors can be selectively charged to the input voltage, the first input node can be selectively coupled to a first node (N1) by a path that include or bypass the first capacitor, and the second input node can be selectively coupled to a second node (N2) by a path that includes or bypasses the second capacitor. The output node (402) can be switched between two switching voltages at the first or second nodes. The driver is selectively operable in different operating modes, where the switching voltages are different in each of said modes.
