Abstract:
An apparatus comprises a first transducer support configured to receive a first transducer in a first opening. A face of the first face of the transducer is located in a first plane. The apparatus also comprises a second transducer support configured to receive a second transducer in a second opening. A face of the second transducer is located in a second plane substantially parallel to the first plane.

A transducer device comprises circuitry configured to transmit signals, or to receive signals, or both. The transducer device also comprises a transducer block comprising a plurality of piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers (PMUT), wherein each of the PMUTs; and an interconnect configured to provide signals from the transducer block to the circuitry and to provide signals from the circuitry to the transducer block.
Abstract:
A method of determining a genetic component contributing to the severity of a pulmonary disease in a patient comprises determining the presence or absence of one or more single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the Endothelin Receptor A (EDNRA) gene or the Interleukin-8 (IL-8) gene of the patient. The SNPs are rs5335 or rs1801708 for EDNRA, or rs4O73 for IL-8. The pulmonary disease may be cystic fibrosis or lymphangioleimyomatosis. Determining the presence or absence of one or more of SNPs rs5335 or rs1801708 in the EDNRA gene or rs4073 in the IL-8 gene of the patient may also be used in a method of treating a patient having a pulmonary disease. A kit may comprise one or more probes for determining the presence or absence of one or more of SNPs rs5335 and rs1801708 in the EDNRA gene or the SNP rs4073 in the IL-8 gene.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to techniques for navigating a network based on audio input to retrieve information from a network. A user enters audio commands into a two-way communication device to access information located on a network, such as the Internet. For example, a user enters a voice request for a web page into a telephone, which sends the request to a proxy browser for the World Wide Web which in turn provides the request to a web navigation application executing on an application server. The web navigation application generates a text-based request based on the voice request and retrieves a web page from the World Wide Web based on the text-based request. The web navigation application uses a script or an XML page to generate a file suitable for audio output from the retrieved web page. The web navigation application then produces an audio output file from the generated file, which it sends to the proxy browser to provide audio output signals to the user over the telephony connection to the user's telephone.
Abstract:
The detection system 10 of the first preferred embodiment is preferably designed to be integrated into a flow cytometer having an interrogation zone 12. The detection system 10 includes a detector 14 adapted to receive photonic inputs P from the interrogation zone and produce an analog signal, and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) 20 coupled to the detector and adapted to convert an analog signal to a digital signal. The detector 14 has a dynamic range that is preferably greater than or equal to 100 dB. The ADC 20 has a bit resolution that is preferably greater than or equal to 16-bits. The detection system allows simultaneous collection of both small/faint objects and large/bright objects. In an application of this feature of the present invention, the detection system of the preferred embodiments may be used in the co-detection of mammalian cells and bacteria.
Abstract:
In a multinode data processing system in which nodes exchange information over a network or through a switch, a structure and mechanism is provided within the realm of Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) operations in which DMA operations are present on one side of the transfer but not the other. On the side in which the transfer is not carried out in DMA fashion, transfer processing is carried out under program control; this is in contrast to the transfer on the DMA side which is characteristically carried out in hardware. Usage of these combination processes is useful in programming situations where RDMA is carried out to or from contiguous locations in memory on one side and where memory locations on the other side is noncontiguous. This split mode of transfer is provided both for read and for write operations.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for facilitating zero-copy communications between computing systems of a group of computing systems. The method includes allocating, in a first computing system of the group of computing systems, a pool of privileged communication resources from a privileged resource controller to a communications controller. The communications controller designates the privileged communication resources from the pool for use in handling individual ones of the zero-copy communications, thereby avoiding a requirement to obtain individual ones of the privileged resources from the owner of the privileged resources at setup time for each zero-copy communication.
Abstract:
Described are coating compositions for treating substrates such as hard and soft surfaces to render the surfaces oil and water repellent, as well as stain and dirt resistant. The compositions described include three component systems in an organic solvent, where the components include a hydrolyzable perfluoropolyetherisocyanate derived silane, and to non-fluorinated components such as alkoxy silanes, one optionally containing a reactive functional group.
Abstract:
Described are compositions containing fluorinated polyether isocyanate derived silane compounds for treating substrates such as hard surfaces, e.g. ceramic and/or glass, to render them oil and water repellent, and stain resistant, articles having coatings comprising such compounds, and methods for applying such coatings.
Abstract:
A transducer device includes an acoustic transducer, a parameter extractor and a feedback circuit. The parameter extractor is configured to extract an operating parameter from the acoustic transducer. The feedback circuit is configured to generate a correction signal based on a difference between the extracted operating parameter and a corresponding reference parameter. The correction signal is applied to adjust the operating parameter of the acoustic transducer.
