UNSATURATED MONOMERS USING REDOX SYSTEMS AS CATALYSTS COMPRISING CONTINUOUSLY POLYMERIZING OR COPOLYMERIZING THE MONOMER OR COMONOMERS AT A TEMPERATURE OF FROM 80*C. TO -40*C. IN AN ANNULAR GAP COLUMN HAVING A MIXING CHAMBER ARRANGED PRECEDING THE COLUMN, THE SUSPENSION WHICH IS THEREBY OBTAINED BEING REMOVED CONTINUOUSLY THROUGH AN OVERFLOW APPARATUS.
Abstract:
A copolymer of vinyl chloride with ethylene or propylene having a K-value of 45 to 65 and an alkylene (ethylene or propylene) content of 0.5 to 10 weight percent. This product is particularly useful for forming plasticizer-free coatings on substrates by known fluidized bed coating processes and for forming plasticizer-free shaped articles by rotational molding processes.

THE RESULTANT NOVEL COPOLYMERS ARE FREE OF CROSSLINKING, ARE CHARACTERIZED BY SI-C BONDS WHICH ARE INTERCONNECTED BY C-C BOUNDS. THEY ARE THERMOPLASTIC AND CAN BE EASILY WORKED IN EXTRUDERS, DEEP DRAWING MACHINES, ROLLING MILLS, ETC.
