Abstract:
A reinforced tubular core for casting gas turbine engine blades with cooling air passages therein is disclosed. A method of casting is also disclosed in which the blades are directionally solidified to produce columnar grained or single crystal blades and in which non-linear passages can be produced. The problem in producing such articles is that the moulds and cores used in the casting process are held at temperatures in excess of 1500.degree. for long periods and presently used Silica cores deform during the process. Stronger cores of Alumina or Silicon Nitride cannot be easily bent were believed to be non-leachable from the casting. The present invention provides a core having a tubular silica sheath with a solid alumina rod inside it for support. The sheath can be bent and the straight alumina rods can be inserted from opposite ends of the sheath.
Abstract:
The high temperature dimensional stability and resistance to thermal shock of silica articles is improved by ensuring that from 45-60% by weight of the article consists of crystalline phase silica. Such levels of crystalline phase silica may be attained by intimately mixing finely divided particles of fused silica and crystalline phase silica, molding the mixture to the required shape and then heating the molded mixture at a temperature sufficiently high enough to sinter the particles, but not high enough to cause rapid crystallization of the fused silica.
Abstract:
Architecture for efficiently ensuring that data is stored to the desired destination datastore such as for replication processes. A copy of data (e.g., messages) sent to a datastore for storage is stored at an alternate location until a received signal indicates that the storage and replication was successful. As soon as the feedback signal is received, the copy is removed from the alternate location, and hence, improves input/output (I/O) and storage patterns. The feedback mechanism can also be used for monitoring the status of data transport associated with log shipping, for example, and taking the appropriate actions when storage (e.g., replication) is not being performed properly.
Abstract:
The present invention provides galacto-oligosaccharide compositions that preferentially stimulate growth of specific Bifidobacterium species and subspecies.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a snap installation adaptor designed to be united with a handheld tool so that the union can permanently affix snaps onto fabric. The snap installation adaptor includes an upper portion with a cap node; a lower portion with a socket node; an intermediate portion connecting the upper and lower portions; and means for transferring external downward force from the handheld tool through the upper portion so that the cap node is forced to meet the socket node, thus permanently affixing a snap onto a piece of fabric between the upper and lower portions.

A system and method providing for interoperability of SIP and H.323 for SRTP session establishment includes providing for interoperability of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and H.323 for Secure Realtime Transport Protocol session establishment include receiving a transmit key in a first protocol from a first endpoint. The transmit key is mapped from the first protocol to a second protocol and sent in the second protocol to a second endpoint to establish a secure communication session between the first endpoint and the second endpoint.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a beam splitter that comprising a body having at least one substantially flat surface. The surface has surface regions arranged to receive radiation at respective incidence angle ranges. At least some of the incidence angle ranges of the radiation received by the respective surface regions differ from one another and each surface region has a respective optical property such that the influence of the respective incident angle range on the wavelength range of reflected and/or transmitted radiation is reduced.

A capacitive micromachined ultrasound transducer (cMUT) cell is presented. The cMUT cell includes a lower electrode. Furthermore, the cMUT cell includes a diaphragm disposed adjacent to the lower electrode such that a gap having a first gap width is formed between the diaphragm and the lower electrode, wherein the diaphragm comprises one of a first epitaxial layer or a first polysilicon layer. In addition, a stress reducing material is disposed in the first epitaxial layer.
