摘要: A process for preparing a pillared interlayered clay comprises heating a smectite clay containing material with a solution comprising a polymeric cationic hydroxy metal complex of a suitable metal (preferably aluminum) and a surfactant having the formula of R.sup.1 --O--(CHR.sup.2 --CHR.sup.2 O).sub.x H, wherein, R.sup.1 is an aliphatic C.sub.6 H.sub.13 --C.sub.24 H.sub.49 hydrocarbyl radical, R.sub.2 is hydrogen or the methyl group, and x is about 3-7. The thus prepared pillared interlayered clay exhibits high surface area, high methane storage capacity and high resolution in separating gaseous hydrocarbons.

摘要: A hydrotreating process comprises contacting a substantially liquid hydrocarbon-containing feed stream, which contains compounds of sulfur and metals (preferably Ni and/or V), in the presence of a fixed catalyst bed comprising (a) at least one layer of impregnated substantially spherical alumina-containing particles which have been prepared by a process comprising the steps of impregnating specific starting material with at least one dissolved magnesium compound and then heating the thus impregnated material at about 500.degree.-900.degree. C. for improved crush strength retention. In a preferred embodiment, the fixed catalyst bed further comprises at least one layer (b) of catalyst particles comprising a refractory inorganic carrier and at least one hydrogenation promoter. A composition of matter comprising the impregnated, spherical alumina-containing particles described above, and a process for preparing them are also provided.

摘要: A process for converting catalytic cracking catalyst fines to a shaped composition comprises acid-treatment of catalytic cracking catalyst fines, followed by separation and drying of the acid-treated fines; preparing a shapable mixture by mixing the dried catalyst fines with calcium aluminate, sodium silicate, phosphoric acid and water; shaping (preferably extruding) the obtained shapable mixture; and drying and thereafter calcining the obtained shaped particles. A shaped composition having high crash strength is obtained by this process.

摘要: Metals, nitrogen and/or sulfur, particularly vanadium, nickel and nitrogen, are removed from organic compositions, particularly heavy hydrocarbon oils, by contacting the organic compositions with a halogenating agent, preferably phosphorus oxychloride, under conditions sufficient to form a distinct phase including the contaminants, which is separable from the organic composition and separating the distinct phase from the organic composition as by filtration, decantation, and the like. In another embodiment of the present invention, the treatment with the halogenating agent is carried out in conjunction with treatment with an acid gas and water, as a combination of carbon dioxide and water, or a solvent.
