A tandem safety valve for use in a tubing string in a wellbore has a pair of identical valves disposed in a valve housing. Each valve has a flow tube for selectively opening and closing each valve. Each valve is provided with an hydraulic normal-operation actuator and an hydraulic looking actuator. The normal-operation actuator and locking actuator are selectively engaged with the flow tube disposed within the valve housing. Each flow tube is provided with a latch to releasably engage the normal-operation actuator, and a a locking dog to selectively engage the flow tube in a locked-open position. The locking actuator engages the latch to release the normal-operation actuator from engagement with the latch and to permit the locking dog to engage the valve housing to maintain the flow tube and valve in a locked-open position.

A unit bearing motor typically has an end shield, a stator core mounted within the end shield with the core extending axially out beyond the end shield. The core receives the windings of the motor and a winding cover is secured to the portion of the core extending out beyond the end shield so as to at least in part enclose the stator and the windings. The cover is a unitary member formed of sheet metal and has a peripheral rim at the end of the cover adjacent the end shield. The side walls of the cover have a plurality of indentations or dimples formed therein which locally engage the portion of the core extending beyond the endshield so as to securely hold the cover with respect to the core, but yet so as to permit the ready removal of the cover without damage to the cover or the windings.

Concentric control lines have an outer line disposed about one or more inner lines. Encapsulated together, the lines only require one penetration through the wellhead to extend downhole. At the wellhead, the lines communicate with an operating system, which can provide hydraulics, electric power, signals, or the like for downhole components. Beyond the wellhead, the concentric lines extend along the tubing to a manifold. The outer line sealably terminates at the manifold's inlet, while the inner conduit passes out an outlet with a sealed fitting to connect to a downhole component. A downhole line couples to an outlet of the manifold and communicates internally with the outer conduit terminated at the manifold's inlet. This downhole line can then extend to the same downhole component or some different component.

A fluid diffuser element may be included to abate flow damage across the primary seal elements during the shifting of the sleeve. A method of selectively transmitting fluid incorporating said well tool also is disclosed.

A fastener 13 is used to physically make the attachment. The motor base clamp includes a pair of mirror image elongated clamping elements attached at one end to the supporting base and configured to surround the motor or the like. The free ends of the clamping elements are associated with a fastener that secures and tightens the clamping elements together in the vicinity of the free ends of the elements so as to clamp a motor or the like to the supporting base. At least one of the fastener or the free ends of the clamping elements are configured to equally distribute the load of the fastener to the free ends of the clamping elements when secured and tightened together.

A switch assembly for use with a centrifugal actuator in the start winding circuit of a dynamoelectric machine (1). The switch has a pair of electrical contacts (29, 33) contained in a pliable, bellows-like enclosure (37) for protection from foreign matter. The assembly includes a terminal board (19) having an electrically conductive post (28) mounted thereon and comprising one side of the switch. A second contact, comprising the other side of the switch, is directly above the first and is surrounded by an electrically conductive cap (32). The cap is affixed between the ends of an electrically conductive, cantilevered switch arm (16) which is biased against a vertically rigid, horizontally adjustable stop (45). The stop has one end rigidly mounted to the terminal board and its other end above and in contact with the switch arm where the cap is affixed to the arm. The bias is caused by the switch arm support structure at the fixed end being attached to the terminal board at an angle. Moving the end of the stop contacting the arm toward the support structure, decreases the gap between the switch contacts, while moving the end of the stop towards the free end of the switch arm increases the gap.
