A valve plug assembly adapted for sealing engagement with a seat ring. The valve plug assembly includes a valve plug having a sealing disk adapted to engage a seating surface the seat ring. The seating surface of the seat ring has a primary portion with a primary angle of any one of about 20 degrees to about 45 degrees and a secondary portion extending from the primary portion with a secondary angle of about 10 degrees. A retainer is coupled to the valve plug and includes a body having a first portion, a second portion, and a side extending from the first portion to the second portion at one of an angle of about 30 degrees to about 45 degrees. So configured, the stress acting on the sealing surface is reduced, increasing the service life of the sealing disk.

Installing a fluid regulator in a fluid distribution system by: determining the position and orientation of the fluid regulator in the fluid distribution system; determining if a first opening and/or a second opening in the body of the regulator, are accessible with the fluid regulator in the determined position and orientation; installing the slam-shut device in the first opening, if accessible, and securing a plate over the second opening; and installing the fluid regulator in the fluid distribution system. The first and second openings are dimensioned such that the slam-shut device can be secured at least partially within the first opening in a first configuration and can be secured at least partially within the second opening in a second configuration.

A valve plug adapted for sealing engagement with a seat ring. The valve plug includes a cylindrical body with an annular flange having a groove. A pair of bores is disposed in the body, each bore having a first diameter, a first end, and a second end disposed within the body. Each bore is also adapted to receive a fastener to couple the valve plug to a mounting portion, and a recess is disposed at the second end of the bore, forming a stepped portion. The recess is adapted to receive at least one of a portion of a retainer or a portion of the fastener. A sealing disk is disposed within the groove of the annular flange and is one of a machined sealing disk or a molded sealing disk.

In some examples, the apparatus includes a disk gasket coupled to the inner surface of the disk holder. In some examples, the apparatus includes a sealing disk positioned in the disk holder. In some examples, the sealing disk has a front side including a sealing surface, and a back side located opposite the front side. In some examples, the back side of the sealing disk in positioned adjacent the disk gasket. In some examples, the apparatus includes a disk retainer coupled to the disk holder. In some examples, the disk retainer is to retain the sealing disk in the disk holder.

A fluid regulator includes an actuator assembly and a body secured to the actuator assembly. The body defines an inlet, an outlet, and a fluid passage disposed between the inlet and the outlet and includes a first opening and a second opening. The first opening is dimensioned to receive a portion of a slam-shut device and is formed through a first side of the body between the inlet and the outlet. The second opening is dimensioned to receive a portion of the slam-shut device and is formed through a second side of the body, opposite the first side, between the inlet and the outlet. A slam-shut device is positioned at least partially within the first opening, extends into the body, and is secured to the body and a plate is positioned over the second opening and secured to the body.

A balanced farm tap regulator includes a valve housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet connected by a fluid passageway. A valve seat is disposed in the fluid passageway. A removable balanced plug assembly includes a valve stem having a stem balanced fluid passage, a disk that cooperates with a valve seat to control fluid flow, and a stem guide that is removably attached to the valve housing. The disk includes a disk balanced fluid passage that is fluidly connected with the stem balanced fluid passage. The stem guide is removably attached to the valve housing, the stem guide including an inwardly extending guide flange and an externally extending guide flange. The inwardly extending guide flange cooperates with the valve stem to form a balance chamber, and the stem balanced fluid passage is fluidly connected to the balance chamber and to the disk balanced fluid passage.

An example apparatus includes a cage of a fluid regulator, where the cage has a central aperture, and a valve stem to be received by the central aperture. The example apparatus also includes a diaphragm coupled to the valve stem, where an integral protrusion of the cage is to constrain a peripheral edge of the diaphragm against a removable portion of a valve body when the cage is coupled to the valve body.
