摘要: Described herein are devices, systems, and methods for treating bone, particularly for restoring bone dimension in compression fractures. Self-expanding stabilization devices for repairing bone may include two or more continuous curvature of bending struts that extend from a central shaft in the deployed configuration. The stabilization device may be attached to an inserter. An inserter may be used to hold the stabilization device in a collapsed delivery configuration so that it can be inserted into bone. In use, the stabilization device may be part of a system or kit for installing the device into a bone region and allowing it to expand to correct a bone fracture.

The guide wire also comprises a flexible cable having first and second conductors which extend along the length thereof. The connector assembly includes a male connector with a sleeve and a conductive core which is mounted in the sleeve. An insulator is mounted in the sleeve and insulates the conductive core from the sleeve. A conductive band is carried by the insulator and is spaced from the sleeve. The first and second conductors are disposed within the sleeve. The first connector is connected to the conductive core and the second conductor is connected to the conductive band. The connector assembly includes a female connector that has an inner conductive grip which has a cylindrical recess for receiving the conductive core and an outer conductive grip that has a cylindrical band which engages the portion extending forwardly of the inner conductive grip. An insulator is disposed between the inner and outer conductive grips. An insulating case is mounted on the outer conductive grip. First and second conductors are disposed within the case.

摘要: System for measuring a characteristic of flow of liquid in a vessel of a patient comprising a transducer positioned in a vessel in a patient for supplying ultrasonic energy. The transducer produces a substantially uniform beam which encompasses the vessel. The transducer receives ultrasonic energy back scattered from the red blood cells and provides an electrical output signal. A first moment detector is provided which receives the electrical output from the transducer and provides a first moment signal. Normalization is provided to the output of the first moment detector to provide an electrical output representing a characteristic of the flow of the liquid in the vessel.

摘要: A holding assembly for aesthetically displaying comestibles comprises a retaining structure and a positioning member. The retaining structure allows the user to firmly secure a comestible to the holding assembly. The retaining structure has two different embodiments: one embodiment for softer comestibles with a flat bottom, such as a cupcake, and another embodiment for more rigid comestibles with a round exterior, such as fruit. The first embodiment of the retaining structure is a platform with tines, and the second embodiment of the retaining structure is a hollow hemisphere with one tine. The positioning member is a long shaft that allows the user to position the comestible in a desired location. The top end of the positioning member is used to attached to the bottom of the retaining structure, and the bottom end of the positioning member is used to penetrate into a base in order to situate the holding assembly.

摘要: Microcannulae are constructed with multiple components in a composite design, allowing the microcannulae to have varying mechanical and delivery properties that will enable ophthalmic treatments by minimally invasive means. The microcannula includes at least one flexible, tubular communicating element with an outer diameter of 350 microns or less, a proximal connector for introduction of materials, energy or tools. It may also include a reinforcing member attached to the communicating element, which may be designed to create variable stiffness along the length of the microcannula. The microcannula may also include other features such as a signal beacon near the distal tip.

摘要: The present invention provides a fluid retention management system that records and displays fluid retention of a patient based on the weight of fluid entering and exiting the patient's body. Scales or other weighing devices are used to weigh the fluid entering and exiting the body so that the corresponding fluid volume may be calculated. The system automatically detects when a fluid container is being replaced. The fluid deficit of the patient is calculated according to the difference between the fluid volume entering the patient and the fluid volume exiting the patient. An operator is able to enter the specific gravity of the fluid and a fluid deficit alarm threshold. If the fluid deficit exceeds the alarm threshold, audible and visual alarms are generated.

摘要: The invention provides tubular surgical cutter devices which include aspiration flow control ports to enhance the ability of the cutter to remove severed tissues from an internal surgical site. The aspiration flow control ports will admit sufficient aspiration fluid to transport tissue fragments that are severed by the tubular surgical cutter through the lumen of the cutter, even when the severing aperture is entirely blocked by a target tissue. The aspiration flow control ports will typically be in one of two forms. In the first form, a vacuum relief port provides open fluid communication with the lumen of the tubular cutter when the cutting aperture is open to receive target tissues for severing. In the second form, a fenestration pattern through an outer tube of the cutter ensures that aspiration flow continues even when the cutting aperture of the outer tube is blocked. Ideally, both vacuum relief ports and fenestrations are provided so that aspiration flow is entrained into the lumen of the tubular cutter throughout the cutting stroke.

摘要: Atraumatic grasping device for use in surgery, having an elongate tubular member having proximal and distal extremities. An insert is carried by the distal extremity of the tubular member and forms a slot opening into the tubular member. First and second elongate substantially parallel spring members having proximal and distal extremities. The first and second spring members extend through the tubular member and through the slot so that the distal extremities of the first and second spring members extend beyond said slot. The distal extremities of the first and second spring members are bowed apart from each other. First and second jaws formed on the distal extremities of the first and second spring members. A linkage is secured to the proximal extremities of the first and second spring members and the tubular member for causing relative movement between the tubular member and the first and second spring members to cause closing and opening of said first and second jaws in a substantially parallel motion to facilitate grasping of tissue and retaining the same between the first and second jaws.
