The insecticide formulations may include a plurality of microcapsules, each including at least one organophosphate insecticide (e.g., chlorpyrifos-methyl) at least partially surrounded by a polymer shell. The insecticide formulations may be used to control insect populations by singular or periodic applications. The microcapsule polymer shell of the insecticide formulations may be formed by combining a cross-linking amine and a hydrophobic monomer (e.g., an isocyanate) at a molar ratio of amine to isocyanate groups of less than about 1:1.

The present invention is directed to an improved system for controlled release of a bone growth promoting compound and to a flowable composition for its formation. The flowable composition is composed of a bone growth promoting compound, a thermoplastic polymer and an organic solvent. The flowable composition is capable of forming a biodegradable and/or bioerodible microporous, solid polymer matrix. The matrix is useful as an implant in patients (humans and animals) for delivery of a bone growth promoting compound to certain tissues.

The invention describes a novel polymer composite comprising nano-talc characterized by an isoelectric point of about 2.5 to about 3.5, a specific surface area greater than about 70 m2/g, and surface hydroxy groups with corresponding hydroxy equivalent weight of about 210 to about 560; and a polymer phase. Specific composites include polyurethane composites prepared from aqueous nano-talc slurries and aqueous dispersible isocyanate terminated polyurethane prepolymers. The invention further embodies a polyurethane composite composition that is a primer coat, base coat or clear top coat for automobiles and metal articles.

High speed silicon-on-insulator radiation hardened semiconductor devices and a method of fabricating same. Starting with a SIMOX wafer (10) having a layer of silicon (12) on a layer of buried oxide (11), P-well and N-well masks are aligned to an oversized polysilicon mask (16). This produces relatively thick source and drain regions (18) and relatively thin gate regions (17). The relatively thick source and drain regions (18) reduce the risk of dry contact etch problems. N-channel and P-channel threshold voltages are adjusted prior to the formation of active areas, thus substantially eliminating edge and back cannel leakage. A sacrificial thin oxide layer (21) is employed in fabricating the N-well and P-well implants so that both front and back channel threshold voltage adjustments are controlled. Good control of doping profiles is obtained, leading to excellent threshold voltage control and low edge and back channel leakages. The speed of devices fabricated using the method of the present invention is high due to reduced capacitances resulting from thinner silicon-on-insulator films. The present invention is fabricated using present equipment and available technology, and provides an easy, straight forward and cost-effective process to fabricate very high speed CMOS devices which are latch-up free and radiation hardened.

An improved absorbent composition containing biodegradable natural ingredients is described. The composition absorbs liquid quickly, has a large water-absorbing capacity and an excellent water retention capability. The composition enables replacement of a significant amount of less or none biodegradable superabsorbent polymers (SAP) with plant and/or other natural ingredients, while achieving the liquid absorption properties similar to those of the widely used SAPs. The composition can be used as an absorbent in aqueous liquid absorption products, such as disposable personal hygiene products, rendering the products more environmentally friendly.
