Abstract: The present disclosure presents techniques to facilitate improving operation of an electrical system, which includes a bus structure that cascades multiple electrical devices. The bus structure includes a first outer conductive layer implemented as a positive layer; a second outer conductive layer implemented as a negative layer; a first intermediate conductive layer neighboring the first outer conductive layer; a second intermediate conductive layer neighboring the second outer conductive layer; and a third intermediate conductive layer neighboring the second intermediate conductive layer, in which the third intermediate conductive layer is implemented as an inter-device layer that facilitates electrically coupling at least two of the electrical devices in series. The first intermediate conductive layer is implemented as a negative layer and the second intermediate conductive layer is implemented as a positive layer to facilitate reducing stray inductance and/or increasing stray capacitance introduced in the electrical system during operation.

Abstract: A switching amplifier includes a plurality of cascade elements, each bridge circuit includes an inductive load coupled between a first leg terminal of one of the at least two leg circuits and a second leg terminal of another one of the at least two leg circuits. A first leg voltage of the first leg terminal have a phase shift relative to a second leg voltage of the second leg terminal, the phase shift is used for causing the inductive load to store electric energy and generating a minimum circulating current−I min or I min sufficient to effect conducting of a corresponding diode; each of the switches is configured to be turned on if the corresponding diode conducts current to effect zero voltage switching of the corresponding switch. The minimum circulating current−I min or I min is equal to a constant value.

Abstract: A direct current circuit breaker includes main circuit for carrying a main-path current, and a transient circuit for carrying a transient-path current. The main circuit includes a first solid state switch and a main contactor. The first solid state switch is coupled in series with the main contactor. The transient circuit is coupled in parallel with the main circuit. The transient circuit includes an auxiliary contactor coupled in series with a second solid state switch. The second solid state switch closes when the main-path current exceeds a first threshold. The first solid state switch then opens. The main contactor opens when the main-path current falls below a second threshold. Then the second solid state switch opens. The auxiliary contactor opens when the transient-path current falls below the second threshold and after the second solid state switch opens.

Abstract: A circuit breaking system includes a first branch including at least one solid-state snubber; a second branch coupled in parallel to the first branch and including a superconductor and a cryogenic contactor coupled in series; and a controller operatively coupled to the at least one solid-state snubber and the cryogenic contactor and programmed to, when a fault occurs in the load circuit, activate the at least one solid-state snubber for migrating flow of the electrical current from the second branch to the first branch, and, when the fault is cleared in the load circuit, activate the cryogenic contactor for migrating the flow of the electrical current from the first branch to the second branch.
