    Abstract: A system for cloud coordinated vehicle data collection includes an onboard vehicle data management subsystem and a remotely-located back-office subsystem. Each subsystem includes one or more control modules having a processor, a memory, and input/output (I/O) ports. The control modules execute program code portions stored in memory. A first program code portion collects vehicle data from onboard vehicle data sources. A second program code portion determines which of several distinct communications systems will be used to transmit the vehicle data to the remotely-located back-office subsystem. A third program code portion causes the remotely-located back-office subsystem to allocate data processing tasks to specific computing resources. A fourth program code portion causes the onboard vehicle data management subsystem and the remotely-located back-office subsystem to continuously adjust data processing task allocation between onboard vehicle control modules and remotely located back-office control modules by minimizing costs and honoring task deadlines and resource consumption constraints.

    Abstract: A system within an ego vehicle for robust association of a physical identity and a virtual identity of a target vehicle includes a data processor, including a wireless communication module and a visible light communication module, positioned within an ego vehicle, and a plurality of perception sensors, positioned within the ego vehicle and adapted to collect data related to a physical identity of the target vehicle and to communicate the data related to the physical identity of the target vehicle to the data processor via a communication bus, the data processor within the ego vehicle adapted to receive, via a wireless communication channel, data related to a virtual identity of the target vehicle, associate the physical identity of the target vehicle with the virtual identity of the target vehicle, and initiate, via the wireless communication channel and a visible light communication channel, a challenge-response protocol between the ego vehicle and the target vehicle.

    Abstract: A modified dual-duplex fail-operational control system. A primary controller includes a first processing unit and a second processing unit for executing a function. A first comparative module comparing the function results from the first and second processing unit to determine an error the first controller. A second controller includes a first processing unit and second processing unit. The first processing unit executes the function. The second processing unit operating in a non-redundant state and not executing the function while in the non-redundant state. A second comparative module determines whether an error is present in the second controller. A matching function result identified by the first comparative module of the first controller is input to second comparative module of the second controller to determine whether an error is present in the second controller utilizing only the matching function result identified by the first comparative module and the function result determined by the first processing unit of the second controller.
